and towards the West by Crown lands, 1000 links: as the
same is delineated on the map in the office of the Chief
Surveyor at Invercargill.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day
of November, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," the
Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto
annexed approving of class-books for public schools; and,
with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this
order shall take effect from the date hereof.
REGULATION.
THE books entitled "Outline of English History," by S. R.
Gardiner (Longmans, Green, and Co., London); "New Zea-
land Standard Class-book of Arithmetic," First Standard, by
R. Lee, Inspector of Schools (J. Hughes, Wellington), may
be used in any public school as if they had been described
and included in the list of works set forth in the Order in
Council dated the 24th day of September, 1878.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth sec-
tion of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been
surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstand-
ing that the same may be then held under pastoral license,
any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any
of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Land Districts of Auckland, Nelson, Canterbury, Otago,
and Southland, described in the Schedule hereunder written,
for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that parcel of land at Pouto, in the District of Kaipara,
in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by the name
of Pouto No. 3, containing by admeasurement 1,026 acres or
thereabouts. Bounded towards the West and North by the
Pouto No. 2 Block and the Pouto No. 1 Block, 38638 links;
towards the East and South-east by the Pouto Block and
the Wairoa River, 37650 links; and towards the South-west
by the Pouto No. 2 Block aforesaid, 4092 links: excepting
out of the hereinbefore-described area a waihi tapu, contain-
ing 110 acres or thereabouts; as delineated on the plan de-
posited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland. For
a pilot and signal reserve.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Auck-
land, containing by admeasurement 6 acres, more or less,
being Lots Nos. 84, 85, 86, 130, 131, and 132 of Section 2 of
the Town of Opotiki, Opotiki Survey District. Bounded
towards the North by Richard Street, 600 links; towards the
East by Lot No. 443, 1000 links; towards the South by
Ford Street, 600 links; and towards the West by Malcolm
Street, 1000 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.
For a recreation-ground.
NELSON.
All that parcel of land containing by admeasurement
1 acre 2 perches, be the same more or less, situate in
the Land District of Nelson, being Sections Nos. 33,
34, 35, 36, 37, and 38, in the Township of Waiau, and
bounded as follows: On the Northward, 250 links, by
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less,
being Section No. 2616 (in red), situate in the Oxford
Survey District. Bounded towards the North-east by a road-
line; towards the South-east by Section No. 35409, 730
links; towards the South by a road-line; and towards the
North-west by a line drawn parallel to the north-west boun-
dary of Section No. 35409 and 420 links distant therefrom:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is
delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey
Office, Christchurch. For a gravel-pit.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 37 acres 2 roods, more
or less, being Section No. 2619 (in red), situate in the Selwyn
Survey District. Bounded towards the North by a road-line,
1840 links; towards the East by Section No. 27299, 2455
links; towards the South by the River Selwyn; and towards
the West by Section No. 12641 and a line in continuation
of the eastern boundary of said section, 2000 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less; save and excepting there-
out a road-line; as the same is delineated on the plan de-
posited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a
gravel-pit.
OTAGO.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by admeasurement 11 acres, more or less, situate
in the Teviot District, and being Section No. 52 of Block II.
of said district. Bounded towards the North-west by Crown
lands, 578 links; towards the North-east by Section No. 43
of same block, and Crown lands, 1900 links; towards the
South-east by a road-line, 600 links; towards the South-west
by Crown lands and Section No. 44 of same block, 1960
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a
school site.
SOUTHLAND.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago,
Southland Division, containing 12 acres 1 rood 20 perches,
more or less, being block marked reserve for public gardens
on the map of the Town of Gore. Bounded on the North
by Surrey Street, 565 links; towards the West by Richmond
Street, 981-5 links and 1972-7 links; towards the South-west
by Norfolk Street, 365 links; and towards the East by a
road reserve, 100 links wide, along the bank of the Mataura
River. For a recreation-ground.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twentieth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.

Vaccination Districts constituted.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in the
Governor by "The Public Health Act, 1876," I, William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing vaccination dis-
trict known as the Oxford District; and do declare that the
territory heretofore comprised within the said district is
hereby divided anew into two vaccination districts, the
names whereof shall be the West Oxford and East Oxford Dis-
tricts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with
the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same
names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date here-
with made under the provisions of "The Marriage Act, 1880."
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.

Waimate High School Board.

vested in me for this purpose by "The Waimate High
School Act, 1883," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint that the first meeting of the Board of Governors of
the Waimate High School shall be held at the Courthouse,
at Waimate, on Wednesday, the fifth day of December next,
at three o'clock p.m.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this sixteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three.
