A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880," I,
William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing
marriage district known as the Oxford District; and do pro-
claim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised
within the said district is hereby divided anew into two
marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall
be as follow:-
WEST OXFORD DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North-east by a right line from
Ashley Head to Block Hill; thence towards the East gene-
rally by a right line to the source of the River Ashley, and
by the right bank of that river to Section No. 32765; thence
by that section and Sections Nos. 21713, 23104, 20779,
20778, 20780, 21903, 26015, 17831, 20519, 12705, 17828,
12741, 12728, 2377, 1504, 1391, 1560, 1561, 1839, 1889,
1890, and 16980 to the River Eyre; thence by a right line to
the north-western corner of Reserve No. 1651, and by that
reserve and Sections Nos. 26568, 26373, 31939, 30860, 27041,
24534, 28027, 29947, and by the south-eastern boundary of
Section No. 32487 to the road-line which forms the southern
boundary of that section; thence by that road-line and by
the road-line which forms the boundary between Sections
Nos. 32020 and 32019 to the Waimakariri River; thence by a
line due south to the right bank of that river; thence
towards the South-west and West by the right bank of the
Waimakariri River to a point in line with the northern boun-
dary-line of old Run 270, Class 3; thence towards the North
by a right line to and by that boundary-line to the summit
of the Puketiraki Range; and thence towards the North-
west generally by that range to Ashley Head, the place of
commencement.
EAST OXFORD DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North-east from a point on the right
bank of the River Ashley in the Upper Valley in line with
the north-eastern boundary of Native Reserve No. 893, by a
right line to and by that boundary to the River Garry;
thence across the River Garry and by its left bank to the the
River Ashley; thence by a line due south to the right bank
of the River Ashley; thence towards the South by the right
bank of that river to its intersection by a right line drawn
between trig. pole No. 16, situated on the north bank of that
river, and the north-west corner of Section No. 9791; thence
towards the South-east by that line to the north-west corner
of said Section No. 9791, and a right line thence to the
north-west corner of Section No. 13684, the boundary-lines
between old Runs 223, Class 2, and 203, Class 2, old Runs 35
and 108, Class 2, old Runs 135 and 119, and the last-men-
tioned boundary-line produced to the right bank of the Wai-
makariri River; thence towards the South by that bank
and thence towards the West generally by the West Oxford
District, hereinbefore described, to the point of commence-
ment.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the first day of December, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this fifteenth day of November, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three.

and Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Registration of Births
and Deaths Act, 1875," I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby abolish the existing registration district known as
the Oxford District; and do proclaim and declare that the
territory heretofore comprised within the said district is
hereby divided anew into two registration districts, the
names whereof shall be the West Oxford and East Oxford
Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous
with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the
same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date
herewith made under the provisions of "The Marriage Act,
1880."
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
