Description.—The sections in Block XIV., and Sections 30 to 35, Block XIII., Pohui District, are chiefly forest with a few clearings. The timber consists of rimu, matai, and a little white pine. The formation of the ground is undulating and well watered, the soil inclined to be light. Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, and 12, Block II, Patoka, Sections 15 and 16, Block XIII., and Section 8, Block XV., Pohui District, are open hilly fern land, with a little bush on Sections 11, 12, 15, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block VI., Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone-formation, a small quantity of bush on each. Access is given by roads which have been partly formed, about two and a half miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The Hawke's Bay County Council has in course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea Road, a distance of six miles. There is also another dray road vid Puketapu and Rissington. The distance from Napier is about forty miles by road.

Sale of the Waitara Block, Upper Mohaka.

THE lands mentioned hereunder, having been classified under
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882," will be
offered for sale, for cash, by public auction, at the Council
Chamber, Napier, on Wednesday, the 28th February next, at
11 o'clock in the forenoon.

A lithograph plan of the block has been prepared, and may
be had on application at the Survey Office.

One-fourth of the purchase-money must be paid at the sale,
and the balance within one calender month thereafter.

Description.—Pohui District: Open fern-hills intersected by
narrow valleys, the soil is light. Section 2 has a small frontage
to the Taupo Road, and is bounded on one side by the Mohaka
River. Sections 3 and 4 have frontage to the Taupo Road.
Maungaharuru District: Fern-hills and spurs on the western
slopes of the Maungaharuru Range, the soil is light, about one
half of Section 2 is undulating country covered with natural
grasses. Section 3 is good pastoral land. Section 4 has front-
age to Taupo Road. A few clumps of bush are scattered about
on Section 1.
Waitara District: Open fern country, hilly.
A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed a
distance of twelve miles through the block, starting from the
Taupo Road about thirty-five miles from Napier.

paid will be forfeited and the sale void. A deposit of £1 for
the grant of each section must be paid on completion of the
purchase.

RUNS TO BE LEASED.

At the same time and place licenses of the under-mentioned
runs will be offered at public auction, on terms mentioned, and
subject to "The Land Act, 1877," and the Acts amending the
same of 1879 and 1882. The person who shall pay the highest
sum by way of annual rent in case of each of these runs shall
be entitled to receive a license to occupy the same for pastoral
purposes for a term of ten years, provided he shall pay at the
auction rent at the rate of the highest price bid from the date
of auction to 1st September, 1883, together with a fee of £3 for
