Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 27th January, 1883.
NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. IZARD AND BELL, Of
No Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, Solicitors,
as Agents for EDWARD KING TYLER, of Auckland, in the
colony aforesaid, Solicitor, have applied, on behalf of LOUIS
EHRENFRIED, of Thames, in the Provincial District of Auck-
land and colony aforesaid, trading at Auckland, under the firm
or style of "Ehrenfried Brothers," Wine and Spirit Merchants,
to register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark
of which the following is a description, viz. :-
Description of Trade Mark.
A paper label about 4 inches long and 3¼ inches high, having
a plain white border of about ¼ inch wide all round within the
same. Within this border is an arch of a semicircular form,
having a radius of about 1½ inches; the centre from which this
radius is drawn being about ¼ inch above a border, herein-
after mentioned, forming the base of the arch. The stonework
of the arch is coloured red, and is continued on all sides to the
before-mentioned white border. The interior of the arch is
shaded on the dexter side, and made brighter on the sinister.
A vine is represented growing from the dexter-base corner of
the label or arch, and is continued round the arch, following
the form of the same till it droops on the opposite sinister-base
corner of the same; at the top of the arch and within the red
stone and partially covering the vine is a light-red horizontal
band about 4 inches long and ¼ inch wide, bearing the words
"A Delicious, Effervescing, Cooling Beverage," printed in black
letters, about ¼ inch high. At the bottom of the arch is a
horizontal red band or border ¼ inch wide running the whole
breadth of the arch, and forming the base of the arch; and
within this band is another band nearly ¼ inch broad, and the
same length as the outer band, bearing in black letters the
words "Prepared by Ehrenfried Bros., Auckland;" the words
"Ehrenfried Bros." being in larger type than the rest. The
interior of the arch is plain white paper; and within the said
arch is the figure of a woman from the waist upwards, dressed
in a striped red dress, loose sleeves, flowing hair, and necklace
and locket, holding in her right hand a ladle, and in her left a
glass nearly filled with liquid, which she is holding forward; on
the aforesaid white ground and over her right shoulder are the
words "Lime Juice," and similarly over her left shoulder the
word "Pympla," printed in black letters about ¼ inch high, not
including ornamental lines and flourishes connected therewith.
The whole design is shaded with black lines where such shading
is requisite.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
