Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that JAMES NEIL, of 96, George Street, in the City of Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, Medical Botanist, &c., has applied to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following are descriptions, viz.:—
Description of Trade Mark No. 1.
The representation of a dandelion plant, consisting of an erect stem in the centre, surmounted by an open flower, with a leaf extending on each side starting from the base of the stem.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
Dandelion pills and coffee and other botanic preparations.
Description of Trade Mark No. 2.
A floral border, representing the Balm of Gilead plant, enclosing the words “Neil’s Balm of Gilead or cold-curer.”
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
Medicinal compound for the cure of colds, coughs, &c.

Importation of Cattle prohibited.—Notice No. 148.

THE following Order in Council, which appeared in the New Zealand Gazette of the 23rd August, 1883, prohibiting the importation of cattle into New Zealand excepting from the Australasian Colonies, is republished for general information.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of August, 1883.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
In pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the sixtieth section of “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby absolutely prohibit the introduction into the Colony of New Zealand from the countries following, that is to say, Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and the islands in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, save and except the Australasian Colonies, of all cattle, sheep, horses, swine, and goats, and also of fresh meat, skins, hides, hair, horns, hoofs, offal, or other parts of any such animal, and of all hay, straw, and fodder, and of all fittings which have been used in the transport of any such animal.
And, with the like advice and consent, doth declare that this Order in Council shall come into force from and after the date hereof: Provided that this Order in Council shall not apply to animals which shall have been shipped from any of the above-mentioned countries before the first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

AN ACT to authorize Companies registered under “The Companies Act, 1862,” to keep Local Registers of their Members in British Colonies.
[20th August, 1883.
WHEREAS many companies registered under “The Companies Act, 1862,” carry on business in British colonies, and dealings in their shares are frequent in such colonies, but delay, inconvenience, and expense are occasioned by reason of the absence of any legal provision for keeping local registers of members, and it is expedient that such provisions as this Act contains be made in that behalf:—
