Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fifty-third section of “The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and at the request of the School Commissioners for the Otago Provincial District, in whom the lands herein described are vested, doth hereby declare that the sections of land enumerated in Schedules I. and II. hereto, which have been reserved for educational purposes, shall be sold subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1877,” for cash and on deferred payments respectively, as in the said Schedules specified.
