Proclaiming certain Land to be Part of the Waimea Water-
race Extension to Kumara.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land hereinafter described, being within
the gold-mining district known as the Westland
Gold Field, is required for a water-race, and a map of such
water-race, numbered P.W.D. 10810, has been deposited in
the Warden's Court at Kumara, in the said gold-mining
district:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," do hereby proclaim and
declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall
be and the same is hereby declared to be a water-race, and
shall, as from the thirtieth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-three, form part of the water-race
known as the Waimea Water-race Extension to Kumara.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land situated within the Provin-
cial District of Westland, containing by admeasurement
26 acres 2 roods 35 perches, being Section No. 1446,
Block XVI., Waimea Survey District; as delineated on the
plan marked P.W.D. 10810, and deposited in the Warden's
Court, at Kumara, in the Provincial District of Westland.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House at Wellington,
this seventeenth day of October, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
three.

Provincial District of Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is
required to be taken, under "The Public Works Act,
1876," and "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," for a certain work, to wit, the construction of roads
in the South Rakaia Road District, Provincial District of
Canterbury:
And whereas the South Rakaia Road Board has laid before
the Governor the memorial and map mentioned in, and
signed and certified as required by, the said Acts:
And whereas the two hundred and twenty-ninth section of
"The Public Works Act, 1882," enacts that any public work
authorized under the authority of any Act repealed by this
Act or of any Act or Ordinance repealed by "The Public
Works Act, 1876," and any land required to be taken, pur-
chased, or acquired for such work, or anything commenced
under any such authority as aforesaid, may be continued,
taken, purchased or acquired, executed, carried out, en-
forced, and completed under the provisions of this Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
sections eleven and two hundred and twenty-nine of "The
Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and
authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of roads; and that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so de-
scribed shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her
Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims,
estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as roads.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasure-
ment 1 acre 1 rood 3 perches, being portion of Rural Section
No. 5732, commencing at a point on the north-eastern
boundary of said section 1149 links distant from the
northernmost corner thereof. Bounded as follows: North-
easterly by a line, 110 links; South-easterly by a line, 1330
links; Westerly by a line, 125 links; North-westerly by a
line to commencing point, 1252 links.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasure-
ment 2 acres 3 roods 32 perches, being portion of Native
