WHEREAS by section thirty-one of an Act of the Parliament
of New South Wales, passed in the forty-second year of the
reign of Her present Majesty, intituled "The Custom Regu-
lation Act, 1879," and numbered nineteen, it is enacted that
the Governor may, by Proclamation, prohibit the importa-
tion of infected cattle, sheep, or other animals, and hides,
skins, horns, hoofs, or any other part of cattle or other
animals, and that any such animals, except those for the
purpose of transhipment or exportation, found upon any ship
may be forfeited and may be destroyed, in order to prevent
the spreading of any contagious disease: And whereas great
