NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. TRAVERS
AND CAVE, of the City of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand, Solicitors, have applied,
on behalf of THOMAS GEORGE MACARTHY, of the
Phœnix Brewery, in the City of Wellington afore-
said, Licensed Brewer, to register, under "The Trade
Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description, viz. :-
Description of Trade Mark.
Within an oval lozenge a phœnix with outspread
wings, surmounted by the motto "Puritas et vires."
Underneath the phœnix, within the lozenge, repre-
sentations of the three following medals, namely: On
the left, "Medal granted by the Sydney International
Exhibition, 1879;" in the centre, "Medal granted by
the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition, 1868;" and
on the right, "Medal granted by the Melbourne
International Exhibition, 1880." The whole of the
above being surrounded by an oval scroll, except the
extremities of the wings of the phœnix, which extend
into the scroll, the said scroll having printed upon it
the words and letters "Pascoe & Co., Wellington,
N.Z." In the four corners of a parallelogram en-
closing the scroll are printed the words and figures
following, namely: On the left-hand top-corner,
"Strong Ales, XXXX;" on the right-hand top-
corner, "Bitter Ales, XXX;" on the left-hand bottom-
corner, "Mild Ales, XX;" and on the right-hand
bottom-corner, "Extra Stout, XXX."
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
Beer and ale in bottle and in bulk, and stout and
porter in bottle and in bulk.
