miles in area, and no one point in such area shall be
distant more than four miles from any other point
therein, except in the case of military townships;
and that in every such locality not less than two-
thirds of the number of the resident householders
shall concur in any such petition, and each signature
to such petition shall be verified by the attestation
of some respectable witness; and that such petition
shall set forth accurately the boundaries of the
locality to which such petition may refer; and also
that, on the receipt of any such petition, the Gover-
nor may, by Proclamation, declare that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within such
locality, and that the same shall be a town district
under the said Act; and, further, that such Procla-
mation shall accurately define the boundaries of the
district in accordance with the description contained
in the petition, and shall declare the name by which
such district shall thereafter be known:
And whereas a petition has been presented to the
Governor by the inhabitants of the locality men-
tioned and described therein, praying that such
locality may be constituted a town district under the
said Act:
And whereas not less than two-thirds of the num-
ber of resident householders in the said locality have
concurred in the said petition, and it is expedient
that a Proclamation should be issued under the said
Act for the purposes hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Admin-
istrator of the Government of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the hereinbefore in part
recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
provisions of the said Act shall come into force
within the locality or district mentioned and described
in the Schedule hereto (the same being the locality
mentioned and set forth in the said petition, so pre-
sented as aforesaid), and that the same shall be a
town district under the said Act; and, in further
pursuance and exercise of the said power and
authority, I do hereby declare that the said district
shall hereafter be known by the name of "The
Wyndham Town District;" and I do appoint that the
Board of Commissioners of the said district shall
consist of five in number.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
bounded towards the West and North by the
Mataura River; towards the North-east by the
Mimihau Stream to Section No. 62 on the plan of
the Town of Wyndham; towards the East and
again towards the North by said section to Section
No. 5 of Block I., Wyndham Survey District; again
towards the East by said Section No. 5 to Cardigan
Road; and again towards the East, towards the
South-east, and towards the South by that road and
its northern side produced in a westerly direction to
the Mataura River: as the same is delineated on the
plans in the Survey Office, Dunedin.

the Administrator of the Government of
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
me by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
and the Acts amending the same, I, James Prender-
gast, the Administrator of the Government of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the district the boundaries whereof are
specified in the First Schedule hereto is hereby
incorporated into the Borough of the City of Auck-
land, and shall constitute a separate ward of the
said borough, to be called the Ponsonby Ward; and
that the boundaries of the said borough shall be
those described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland,
bounded towards the North-east by Waitemata
Harbour to a point on original high-water mark
opposite the middle of Franklin Road; towards the
South-east and North-east by the middle of Franklin
and Ponsonby Roads to the south side of Richmond
Road; towards the South by Sections Nos. 35, 34,
40, 41, and 43 to the left bank of Cox's Creek, and
by that bank of said creek to Waitemata Harbour;
and towards the West and North-west by high-water
mark of said harbour.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
ALL that area commencing in the middle of Franklin
Street, at the original high-water mark of Freeman's
Bay; thence bounded towards the West by lines,
50 links and 300 links; towards the North by lines,
1225 links, 700 links, 270 links, 4300 links, 550 links,
90 links, 225 links, 675 links, 1350 links, 225 links,
300 links, 400 links, 250 links, 200 links, 1950 links,
and 1800 links; towards the East by a line, 1500
links, to the Strand; thence along the Strand, 50
links; thence by Suburban Section No. 96, by the
east side of Stanley Street from the south-western
angle of Section No. 11 of the City of Auckland to
the junction of Stanley Street with Grafton Road,
by the east side of Grafton Road from the junction
of Stanley Street to a point opposite the northern
boundary of Lot No. 41 of Suburban Section No. 3;
thence by a line at a right angle with Stanley Street
to and by the northern boundary of said Lot No. 41,
the northern boundary of Lot No. 8 of Suburban
Section No. 15, by the east side of Symonds Street
from the north-western angle of said Lot No. 8 to
the junction of the Karangahape Road; towards the
South by the south-east side of the Karangahape
Road from Symonds Street to the junction of Pon-
sonby Road; thence by Sections Nos. 36, 35, 34, 40,
41, and 43 to the left bank of Cox's Creek, and by
that bank of said creek to the Waitemata Harbour;
again towards the West, towards the North-west, and
towards the North-east by high-water mark of Waite-
mata Harbour to the point of commencement.
