Terms and Conditions of Sale.—The first half-year’s rent to be paid on fall of hammer either by cheque marked by banker or in cash, and thereafter by half-yearly payments in advance on the first days of September and March in each year. Possession will be given on the 1st March, 1883. Valuations for improvements, if any, which shall in no case exceed three times the amount of the average annual rent paid under the existing leases, are to be paid to the Secretary to the School Commissioners, at his office, Colonial Bank Buildings, Dunedin, one month before getting possession.

The new lessee shall be entitled to valuation for improvements up to a limit of three years’ rental.

And also at the same time and place the High School Board of Governors will submit the under-mentioned leases, viz.:

Run No. 205; term, 7 years. Upset rental, not yet fixed. Area, 15,960 acres.
Run No. 213A; term, 10 years. Upset rental, not yet fixed. Area, 16,048 acres.

Lease of Reserve in Marlborough to be offered by Auction.

A LEASE, under section 23 of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” of the under-mentioned block of land, for the term commencing the 1st October, 1882, and ending the 1st January, 1888, will be offered by public auction, at the Survey Office, Blenheim, at noon, on Tuesday, the 19th September, 1882, at the upset annual rent of 1d. an acre.

The bidding to be upon the annual rent. Six months’ rent to be paid at the auction, and on every 2nd January and 1st July during the term of the lease, excepting the 1st July, 1887.

THE BLOCK OF LAND REFERRED TO.

All that parcel of land situate at Wairau Valley, in the Provincial District of Marlborough, estimated to contain 18,000 acres. Bounded—North by the boundary-line of the Provincial Districts of Marlborough and Nelson; West by Stony Creek; South by the Manuka Island Reserve (Block D); East by Ward’s Pass Stream and a line therefrom to the northern boundary: as shown on a plan of the same in this office.

Gold Fields Notices.

Gold-Mining Lease cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

John Ewing and Matthew Gannon; 10 acres, Section 43, Block I., St. Bathans District, Otago Gold Fields. No. 730c.

Special-claim Lease cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned special-claim lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

John Scott, David Robertson, and John McFarlane; 99 acres 1 rood, Block VII., Leaning Rock Survey District, Otago Gold Fields. No. 13.

Gold-Mining Leases to be granted.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such leases.

Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Reefton on or before the 9th day of September, 1882.

Copy of the applications made and plans annexed may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Reefton.


SCHEDULE.

APPLICANT: George C. Bowman. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Criterion Gold-Mining Company (Limited).” 16 acres 2 roods, south of the Triolus and Maori Chief Companies, Devil’s Creek, Inangahua, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.

Applicant: Mathew Byrne. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “No. 2 Golden Fleece Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, south of the Low-level Tunnel Reserve, Inangahua, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.

Applicant: Thomas Hunter. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “The Belfast Quartz-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, about half a mile west of Caledonian Company’s lease, Larry’s Creek, Inangahua, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.
