Districts constituted under "The Marriage Act, 1880."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in the Governor by "The Marriage
Act, 1880," I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice, the
Administrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage
districts known as the West Taieri, Waipori, and
Gabriel's Districts, and do proclaim and declare that
the territory heretofore comprised within the said
districts is hereby divided anew into two marriage
districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be
as follow:-

WEST TAIERI DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
bounded towards the North from Lammerlaw Moun-
tain by the summit of the leading ridge to the source
of Sutton Stream; thence by said stream to the
Taieri River; thence generally towards the East by
said river; thence generally towards the South-west
by the southern shore of Waihola Lake and by the
western shores of Lakes Waihola and Waipori to the
Waipori River; thence by that river to the north-
western boundary-line of the West Taieri Hundred;
thence by said boundary-line to a point south-east
(true) of Waitahuna Hill; thence by a right line to
said hill; thence by a right line to Trig. G, Block
VIII., Waipori Survey District; thence by Section
No. 5 of said block to the Waipori River; thence
by that river to the Verter Burn; thence by the
Verter Burn to Block VI., said survey district;
thence by said block and by a road-line forming the
northern boundary-line of Section No. 4 of said block,
and forming the northern boundary-lines of Sec-
tions Nos. 8 and 4, Block V., and the north-eastern
boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 5, 4, and 3, Block II.,
said survey district, and following up the leading
ridge to the summit of the watershed between the
Waipori River and the Lees Stream; thence by a
line along the summit of the leading ridge to Lam-
merlaw Mountain, the starting point.

GABRIEL'S DISTRICT.

All that area bounded towards the West by a line
parallel to and 20 chains distant from the Clutha
River, from a point opposite the Crookburn to a point
opposite Beaumont Burn; towards the North and
North-west by a right-line to the junction of said
Beaumont Burn with the Clutha River, and by the
Beaumont Burn to its source; thence by the summit
of the leading ridge to Lammerlaw Mountain; towards
the North-east and South-east by the West Taieri
District, before described, to Waitahuna Hill; towards
the South-west by the summit of the leading ridge
from Waitahuna Hill to the summit of the watershed
between the Rivers Tuapeka and Waitahuna; again
towards the South-east by the said watershed, and by
the summit of the leading ridge to the source of the
Crookburn; thence by the Crookburn to the Clutha
River, and by a right line across the Clutha River to
the starting point: as the same is delineated on the
plans in the Survey Office, Dunedin.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation on the first day of September,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice,
the Administrator of the Government of
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
tenth day of August, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two.
