Appointing Day for Election of Member of Board,
Palmerston Road District, County of Waikouaiti.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the persons entitled to vote at the
election of a member for the Meadowbank
Subdivision of the Palmerston Road District failed
to hold an election on the day appointed by "The
Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871," and it is expedient to
appoint a day for holding the said election, as is pro-
vided by the tenth section of "The Otago Roads
Ordinance 1871 Amendment Ordinance, 1874:"
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinances,
and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," do
hereby proclaim and appoint that an election of a
member for the Meadowbank Subdivision of the said
road district shall be held at noon, on Wednesday,
the twelfth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of June, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon me by the twentieth
section of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1879," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the
land enumerated in the Schedule hereto for sale as
a village settlement, upon such terms and conditions
as are set forth in an Order in Council of even date
herewith, and made under the twenty-first section of
the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Orari Survey District,
Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 150
acres, more or less, being part of Reserve No. 1627
(in red). Bounded-Northward by Reserve No. 1237
(in red); Southward by Section No. 26406; East-
ward by Geraldine Street; and Westward by Reserve
No. 1482 (in red).
Given under the hand of His Excellency the

Terms and Conditions of Sale of the Arundel Village
Settlement (Upper Rangitata Bridge), Canterbury
Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
nineteenth day of June, 1882.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twenty-first section of "The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," it is
enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the
terms and conditions upon which the lands comprised
in any village settlement shall be disposed of, and
the mode of payment for the same: And whereas
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand has, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, bearing date the nineteenth day of June, set
apart the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
for sale as a village settlement:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exer-
cise of the powers and authorities conferred upon
him by the hereinbefore in part recited Act, and by
and with the advice of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby fix the following terms and
conditions upon which the said village settlement
shall be disposed of, and the mode of payment for the
same, that is to say,-
-
The lands enumerated in the First Schedule
hereto shall all be submitted to public auction at the
upset prices stated in the said Schedule. -
The lands enumerated in the First Schedule
shall be sold for cash at such time and place as the
Land Board of Canterbury shall appoint. Three
months' notice of the sale is to be given by advertise-
ment in at least one newspaper circulating in the
district at intervals of not less than a fortnight after
the first publication thereof. -
The sum stated in the First Schedule as the
valuation of the improvements on Block six is to be
added to the upset price thereof, to be disposed of as
provided by section one hundred and fifty-five of
"The Land Act, 1877." -
The lands enumerated in the Second Schedule
hereto shall be sold on deferred payments, and they
shall be subject to the provisions relating to suburban
lands of Part III. of "The Land Act, 1877," and to
the provisions of section nine of "The Land Act 1877
Amendment Act, 1879." -
The day upon which the lands described in the
Second Schedule shall be open for application shall
be Tuesday, the twelfth day of September, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-two, at ten a.m., at
the Survey Offices, Christchurch and Timaru. -
No person shall be allowed to acquire more than
one allotment. -
The lands described in the Second Schedule
shall be open for application at the prices stated in
the said Schedule. -
If there should be on the same day more than
one application for any allotment, the right to occupy
the same shall be determined by public auction, the
biddings to be restricted to the applicants.
