VI., Catlin's Survey District, to a point due east of
Trig. F; thence towards the South by a right line to
said Trig. F; and towards the South-west by right
lines to Trigs. Z and S along Wisp Ridge; again
towards the West by a right line to Trig. Q, Brown
Dome; towards the North-east by a line following
the summit of the water-shed between the Owake and
the Puerua Rivers to the Balclutha District, before
described, on the eastern boundary of Block VIII.,
Warepa Survey District.

POPOTUNA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the Glenkenich
Survey District to the Pomahaka River, and by a line
across said river; towards the North-west by the
summit of the watershed to the highest point of
Tapanui Hill; again towards the North by a due
east line to a point 20 chains west of the Clutha
river; towards the East and North-east by a line
parallel to and 20 chains distant from said river to a
point opposite the junction of the Crookburn with the
Clutha River; thence by a line due east to the said
river; thence by that river to the Balclutha District,
before described, at the mouth of the Kaihiku Stream;
towards the South-east, South, and again towards the
East by said district to the summit between the
Puerua and Owake Rivers; again towards the South
by the Catlin's District, before described, to Brown
Dome; and again towards the East, North-east, and
East by said district to the ocean; again towards
the South by the ocean to Chasland's Mistake;
towards the South-west and West by a right line
thence to Blackhorn; thence following the leading
ridge to Bleak Hill; thence by Runs 161 and 251 to
the Cairn; thence by a right line to the most
southerly source of the Kaiwera Stream; by said
stream and by the Waipahi River to the railway;
by said railway to the Waikaka Survey District, and
by said survey district to the Glenkenich Survey
District.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation on the twentieth day of June,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.

Births and Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in the Governor by "The Regis-
tration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875," I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing regis-
tration districts known as the Balclutha, Kaihiku,
Clutha, and Popotuna Districts; and do proclaim and
declare that the territory heretofore comprised within
the said districts is hereby divided anew into four
registration districts, the names whereof shall be the
Balclutha, Clutha, Catlins, and Popotuna Districts,
and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with
the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the
same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of
even date herewith, made under the provisions of
"The Marriage Act, 1880."

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation on the twentieth day of June,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.

tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High

Constituting Timaru Harbour District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section four of "The
Timaru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1881," that
it shall be lawful for the Governor to constitute by
proclamation a district to be called the "Timaru
Harbour District," and to define the boundaries :
And whereas it is deemed expedient to constitute
such a district, and to define the boundaries thereof:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me
by the hereinbefore (in part) recited Act, do hereby
proclaim and constitute a district under and for the
purposes of the said Act, to be called the "Timaru
Harbour District;" and I do hereby define the
boundaries thereof to be as follow:-

All that area in the Provincial District of Can-
terbury, bounded towards the North-east from the
summit of the Southern Alps by the summit of Two
Thumbs Range, thence by a right line to the source
of Forest Creek, thence by the centre of that creek
to the Rangitata River, thence by the centre of that
river to the sea; towards the East by the sea to the
mouth of the Waitaki River; towards the South and
South-west by the centre of that river and of the
Ohau River to Ohau Lake, thence by that lake and
the centre of the River Hopkins to its source, thence
by a right line to the nearest point on the summit of
the Southern Alps; and towards the North-west by
a line along the said summit to the starting point,
near Mount Tyndall: excluding from the before-
described area the Borough of Waimate, as proclaimed
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 95, of 1879, page
1244; as the same is delineated on the plans in the
Survey Office, Christchurch.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
