1880."

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in the Governor by "The Marriage
Act, 1880," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the
existing marriage districts known as the Balclutha,
Kaihiku, Clutha, and Popotuna Districts, and do pro-
claim and declare that the territory heretofore com-
prised within the said districts is hereby divided
anew into four marriage districts, the names and
boundaries whereof shall be as follow:-
BALCLUTHA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
bounded towards the North from the Clutha River
by Block III., Hillend Survey District; towards the
East and again towards the North by Block VI. to
the boundary of the survey district; towards the
South-east by the South Tuakitoto Survey District;
and towards the South by the North Molyneux Sur-
vey District to the Clutha River, and by a line cross-
ing said river; again towards the South and towards
the North-east by the Koau branch of the Clutha
River to Block XIII., Clutha Survey District; again
towards the South-east by said Block XIII. and
Block XII. to the Puerua River; again towards the
South by the said river and the Little Puerua to
the southern boundary of Block IX., Warepa Survey
District; thence by a right line due west to Block
VIII. of said district; towards the West by said
Block VIII. and the production of its eastern boun-
dary in a northerly direction to the Kaihiku Stream;
again towards the North and towards the North-west
by the said stream, to the Clutha River; and again
towards the North-east by the said river to a point
opposite the southern boundary-line of Block III.,
Hillend Survey District, and by a line across the
river to the point of commencement.
CLUTHA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the Balclutha
District, before described; towards the East by the
Koau branch of the Clutha River, by that river, and
by the ocean to the Glenomaru Survey District;
towards the South by that district to Section 20 of
Block IV.; thence by lines following the south-eastern
and south-western boundaries of Section 20 of said
Block IV., and the south-western and north-western
boundaries of Section 23 of said block; again by
the said Glenomaru Survey District; again towards
the East by said Block IV. to the south-eastern
corner of Section 27 of Block III.; thence by the
southern boundaries of said Section 27, Sections 2,
3, and 1, by part of the north-western boundary-line
of said Section 1, by the southern boundary-lines of
Sections 5 and 25, by the south-eastern boundary-
line of Section 34; again towards the East by the
eastern boundary-line of Section 10; and towards the
North-east by the north-eastern boundary of Section
33; again towards the East by the eastern boundary-
line of said Section 33, by Sections 31 and 14; again
towards the South by Section 18 and by a right line
from its north-western corner to the south-eastern
corner of Section 35; thence by the southern and
western boundary-lines of Section 35, the south-
western boundary-line of Section 37, all of Block
III., Glenomaru Survey District; thence by the
south-western boundary of Section 16, the western
boundaries of Sections 16 and 8, the southern boun-
daries of Sections 14 and 2, and the western boundary
of said Section 2, all of Block IX., Glenomaru Sur-
vey District, to Block X.; again towards the South
by said Block IX.; towards the West by Block II.,
Catlin's Survey District; again towards the South by
said block to the Little Puerua.
CATLIN'S DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the Balclutha and
Clutha Districts, before described; towards the East,
South-east, and South by the ocean to the Tautuku
Survey District; towards the West by that district
and the Rimu Survey District, and by Blocks V. and
