General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the forty-fourth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1880," the following names of Officiating Ministers
within the meaning of the said Act are published for
general information :-

PATENT for an Invention for Quartz-crushing
and Amalgamating Gold, to be called "Robin-
son's Cylinder Quartz-crushing and Amalgamating
Machine."
JOHN ROBINSON, of Coromandel, Engineer, has
deposited at this office a specification of the said in-
vention; and I have appointed Friday, the 1st day of
September next, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, at this

office, to hear the said application and all objections
thereto; and I require all persons having an interest
in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave,
on or before the 28th day of August next, at this
office, particulars in writing of their objections to
the said application, otherwise they will be precluded
from urging the same.

Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, Sumner.
APPLICATIONS for appointment to the office of
Assistant Teacher in this institution will be
received by the Director, at Sumner, near Christ-
church, up to the 16th June. The lady appointed
will be expected to enter on her duties (which will
include some supervision of domestic affairs) on the
1st August. A cheerful disposition and experience
in ordinary teaching are regarded as necessary quali-
fications; and a teacher holding a certificate of Class
D from the Education Department would be pre-
ferred. The salary will be at the rate of £75 per
annum, with board, &c. Applications must be accom-
panied with testimonials, and particulars as to age, &c.
