Defining the Middle Line of further Portion of the
Hurunui—Waitaki Railway (Waikari—Hurunui
Section).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the line of railway from Hurunui to
Waitaki is one of the railways specified in
the First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special Act
authorizing the construction of such railway; and the
same is unfinished, and it has been determined to
construct and maintain a further portion of such
railway:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and in pursuance of the powers and authorities
conferred by sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hundred and
twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-five of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of
every other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle
line of the said further portion of the said railway
shall be from a point in Section number seven thousand
five hundred and forty, to a point in Crown lands dis-
tant about sixteen chains westward from the northern
corner of a public road through the said Crown lands,
all within the Waipara Road District, as defined and
set forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle
line and the land through which the same passes are
set forth in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 8996,
and authenticated for the purposes of this Proclama-
tion by the signature of the Honorable Walter Woods
Johnston, the Minister for Public Works, and which
said map and plan is deposited in the office of the
Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in
the Provincial District of Canterbury.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in Rural Section No. 7540,
in the Waipara Road District, which point of com-
mencement is the termination of the Weka Pass
Section, as described in the Proclamation dated the
17th February, 1880, and published in the New Zea-
land Gazette No. 18, of the 26th February, 1880; pro-
ceeding thence generally in a northerly direction
for a distance of 8 miles 58 chains, more or less;
passing in, into, through, or over the following lands,
viz.: Sections Nos. 7540, 7082, 18081, 31374, 30732,
River Waitohi, 31314; and terminating at a point in
Crown lands distant about 16 chains westward from
the northern corner of a public road through the said
Crown lands; including all adjoining and intervening
places, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and water-
courses; all within the said Waipara Road District
and Canterbury Provincial District, in the Colony of
New Zealand; in the manner delineated on a plan
marked P.W.D. 8996, signed by the Honorable
Walter Woods Johnston, the Minister for Public
Works, and deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the said
Provincial District; the total length being 8 miles
58 chains.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under

Division of Borough of Hawksbury into Three Wards,
under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," section twenty-two, it is enacted that,
if not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of each
ward of a divided borough petition the Governor,
praying him to redivide such borough into other
wards, the Governor may, by Proclamation, redivide
such borough into not less than three nor more than
six wards, and shall in such Proclamation assign
such names and boundaries to each ward as he thinks
fit: And whereas not less than one-fourth of the
burgesses of each ward of the Borough of Hawks-
bury have petitioned me to redivide such borough
into three wards:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the hereinbefore recited authority, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the Borough of
Hawksbury shall be and the same is hereby redivided
into three wards, the names and boundaries of which
are set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
WEST WARD.

ALL that portion of the Borough of Hawksbury,
bounded towards the North-west by the boundary
of the borough; towards the North-east by the
middle of Dame Street to the middle of Bourke
Street; towards the South-east by the middle of that
street; and towards the South-west by the boundary
of the borough.

EAST WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Hawksbury,
bounded generally towards the North-west and
North-east by the boundary-lines of the borough to
the middle of Bourke Street; towards the South-east
by the middle of said street; and towards the South-
west by the West Ward, before described.

BEACH WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Hawksbury
not comprised in West and East Wards, above
described.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
