be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
And whereas the land specified in the Schedule
hereto was, with other lands, by Proclamation under
the hand of the Superintendent of the Province of
Otago, on the eleventh day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-four, proclaimed as set
apart for sale on deferred payments:
And whereas the Land Board of Southland did, on
the ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two, pass a resolution recommending that
the said land should be withdrawn from the deferred-
payment system:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in me by the above-named Act, do hereby revoke
the Proclamation above referred to, so far as it
relates to the section therein mentioned and included
in the Schedule hereto, and do proclaim and declare
that the said section is hereby withdrawn from the
operation of the deferred-payment system.

SCHEDULE.
WESTERN portion of Section No. 165, Oreti Hun-
dred, containing 94 acres 3 roods 1 perch.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Christ-
church, this fourth day of May, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two.

Setting apart Land in Otago for Alienation on
Deferred Payments.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifty-fourth section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," it is, amongst other things,
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor to
cause Crown lands situate within a gold field to be
selected and set apart for the purpose of granting
agricultural leases thereon and therefor, or for
alienation by occupation licenses on deferred pay-
ments under any law for the time being in force in
the land district in which such mining district is
situate:
And whereas the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are Crown lands subject to be dealt with,
under the said Act, for alienation by occupation
licenses on deferred payments as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
select and set apart, for the purpose of alienation by
occupation licenses on deferred payments, the lands
described in the Schedule hereto; and do fix Tuesday,
the twentieth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two, as the day on which the
said allotments shall be open for application in allot-
ments, as surveyed and marked on the selection map
in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands,
Dunedin.

Changing the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in
Canterbury.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of April, 1882.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column
of the Schedule hereto was reserved for a
gravel-pit by the Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury:
And whereas the said reserve is for one of the pur-
poses comprised in Class I. of the Schedule to "The
Public Reserves Act, 1881," and, in the opinion of
the Governor, it is expedient to change the purposes
of such reserve to another of the purposes named in
the said Class I., as hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the fourth section of "The Public
Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby order and direct
that the purpose of the reserve mentioned in the first
column of the said Schedule hereto shall be changed
from that of a reserve for a gravel-pit, and doth
hereby declare and define the purposes of the said
reserve to be those specified in the second column of
the said Schedule, the same being one of the purposes
comprised in Class I. of the Schedule to the said
Act.
