Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
And whereas the Land Board of Southland did,
on the sixth day of April, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two, pass a resolution recom-
mending that the land described in the Schedule
hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on de-
ferred payments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to set apart the said
land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in me by the above-named Act, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto is set apart for sale on deferred payments;
and that Wednesday, the seventh day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-two, shall be
the day on which the said land shall be open for
application at the Land Office at Invercargill, in
allotments as surveyed and marked on the selection
maps in that office.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do
hereby fix the price at which the land so described
shall be sold to be the price set opposite each allot-
ment in the Schedule hereto.

Approving Times of Meeting of Land Boards.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
WHEREAS by the first subsection of the twenty-
fifth section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is
enacted that the Board shall sit at such Land Office
within the district as the Governor shall appoint
(which shall be called the Principal Land Office), at
certain times to be determined by the Board, and
approved of by the Governor, and published in the
Gazette:
And whereas by a warrant under the hand of the
Governor, dated the second day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette of the third day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight, certain Land Offices were appointed to be the
Principal Land Offices for the several districts con-
stituted under the said Act:
And whereas the Land Boards hereunder men-
tioned have determined the times which are here-
under set against their names respectively as the
times at which the said Boards shall sit at the said
Principal Land Offices:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in further
pursuance of the hereinbefore recited powers, do
hereby approve of the times so determined by the
said Land Boards and hereunder set against their
names respectively; and I declare that this approval
shall operate and take effect as and from the respec-
tive times at which the respective Land Boards so
determined the times or sitting as aforesaid :--
Taranaki: First and third Monday in each month,
at eleven o'clock in the forenoon. In the event of
any regular day of meeting being a public holiday,
the meeting to be held on the following day.
Canterbury: Thursday in each week, at noon.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-seventh day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two.

Delegation of Governor's Powers under "The
Customs Regulation Act, 1858."
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
WHEREAS by "The Customs Regulation Act,
1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, in the name and on behalf of Her
Majesty, from time to time to appoint and remove a
superior officer of Customs, who shall have the con-
trol and direction of all other officers and persons
employed in or about the collection and management
of the revenue of Customs, and who shall be styled
"The Commissioner of Customs," and also in like
manner from time to time to appoint and remove, or
to depute to the Commissioner the power to appoint
and remove, officers and persons subordinate to the
Commissioner to collect and manage the Customs
revenue, and to perform the several duties incident
to and connected with the collection and manage-
ment thereof:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony as aforesaid, in pursuance
and exercise of the said power and authority, do
hereby delegate to
HARRY ALBERT ATKINSON,
the Commissioner of Customs appointed as afore-
said, the power to appoint and remove officers and
persons subordinate to the Commissioner to collect
and manage the Customs revenue, and to perform
the several duties incident to and connected with the
