Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and
Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Orders in Council dated
the 6th January, 1881, and the 22nd September,
1881, the following scale of charges for the purposes
specified below is hereby fixed in lieu of or in addi-
tion to that at present in force, and such scale shall
come into force on the 30th day of January, 1882:-
PART III.-GOODS.
GENERAL REGULATIONS.
Class E.-Agricultural Produce.
The provision that "Grain in bags, containing
more than 4 bushels each, will be charged rate and a
quarter" is hereby cancelled, and in lieu thereof the
following is substituted: "Grain in bags, containing
more than 240 lb. each, will be charged rate and a
quarter."

JAMES LINTON, of Palmerston North, New Zealand,
Commission Agent, has deposited at this office a
specification of the said invention; and I have ap-
pointed Friday, the 28th day of April next, at 10
o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said application and all objections thereto; and I
require all persons having an interest in opposing
the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or
before the 24th day of April next, at this office,
particulars in writing of their objections to the said
application, otherwise they will be precluded from
urging the same.

Notice under "The Property-Tax Act, 1881."
NOTICE is hereby given that the first instalment
of Property-Tax for the half-year commencing
1st April, 1881, will be payable on Wednesday, the
15th day of February, 1882, and the second instal-
ment of Property-Tax for the half-year commencing
1st October, 1881, in respect of property will be pay-
able on Wednesday, the 1st day of March, 1882, and
D. in respect of fire, marine, and guarantee premiums
on Monday, the 1st day of May, 1882; and the place
or places where the said tax shall be paid shall be the
office of the Property-Tax Commissioner, Govern-
ment Buildings, Willington, or any Post Office (ex-
cept in Wellington) which is a Telegraph Station or
Money Order Office.
