} In the matter of a Bill intituled
"The Ashburton County Coun-
cil Empowering Act, 1882."

NOTICE is hereby given that the County Council
of Ashburton intend to present a
petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand,
at its next session, praying for leave to introduce a
Bill to be intituled "The Ashburton County Council
Empowering Act, 1882." The object of the said Bill
is to empower the said Council to make by-laws and
regulations for the protection of waterworks already
constructed, and which may hereafter be constructed,
by or under the authority of the said Council, for
regulating the use and supply of water therefrom,
fixing the charges to be made for the use and supply
of such water, and generally for securing the proper
maintenance and administration of the said works.
Copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the office
of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before
the commencement of the session.

WELLINGTON AND MANAWATU RAILWAY
COMPANY (LIMITED).

In the matter of an intended Bill "To authorize the
Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company
(Limited) to reclaim certain Lands in the Harbour
of Wellington, and to provide for the Grant of
Part of the same to the Company."

NOTICE is hereby given that the Company intend
to present a petition to the General Assembly
of New Zealand, at its next session, praying for
leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled "A Bill to
authorize the Wellington and Manawatu Railway
Company (Limited) to reclaim certain Lands in the
Harbour of Wellington, and to provide for the Grant
of Part of the same to the Company," authorizing
them to reclaim the lands described in the Schedule
hereto, and for the grant of part of the said lands to
the Company as part of the property and estate of
the Company. And notice is hereby further given
that copies of the said intended Bill will be deposited
in the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on
the 1st day of May, 1882.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land now partly covered with
water, forming part of the Harbour of Wellington,
bounded on the North-eastward by other land form-
ing part of the said harbour, and also now partly
covered with water, 3953\cdot1 links; on the South-
eastward by a line coincident in bearing with the
south-eastern boundary of Davis Street, in the City
of Wellington, extending westward from the south-
eastern extremity of the north-eastern boundary,
842\cdot6 links; on the South-westward, Westward,
and North-westward partly by a breastwork and
partly by the eastern edge of the embankment of the
Wellington and Masterton Railway, such last-men-
tioned boundary extending from the southern ex-
tremity of the south-eastern boundary aforesaid to
the north-western extremity of the north-eastern
boundary.

In the matter of a Private Bill to provide for a
Supply of Water to the Suburban Borough of
Dunedin by a Private Company.

NOTICE is hereby given that application is
intended to be made to the General Assembly,
at the ensuing session thereof, for leave to bring in
"A Bill to enable the Dunedin Suburban Waterworks
Company (Limited) to make and maintain Water-
works for the Supply of the Boroughs of Maori Hill,
Roslyn, and Mornington, and adjacent Properties,
with Water, and for other Purposes," and that such
works shall be as follows:β€”

Store reservoir, to be situated in Sections 35 and
36, Block III., North Harbour and Blueskin Survey
District, from which the water will be allowed to flow
down the natural creek-bed to dam, weir, reservoir,
or pipe-head on creek in Section 15, same block and
district; and thence be conveyed in pipes, conduits,
aqueducts, or races through part of said Section 15
and along public road to and through Section 63,
Block VIII., North Harbour and Blueskin Survey
District, to be discharged into the natural watercourse
therein.

Dam, weir, or pipe-head upon stream in Sections 16
and 17, Block III., North Harbour and Blueskin
Survey District, and the conveyance of the water
thereof through said Section 17 and along the
public road in pipes, aqueducts, or conduits into
Section 63, Block VIII., North Harbour and Blue-
skin Survey District, to be discharged into the
natural watercourse therein.

Said waters to flow in natural watercourses or
channels to junction of streams known as Farquhar's
Creek and the Water of Leith, at point in south
boundary of Section 40, Block VIII., North Harbour
and Blueskin Survey District, where dam, weir,
reservoir, or pipe-head will be constructed. From
thence water to be conveyed in pipes, conduits, or
aqueducts along public road, and through Section
32, Block VIII., North Harbour and Blueskin Sur-
vey District, to store-reservoirs in Sections 31, 30,
and 24, same block and district, to be constructed to
store said water, and also water of creek flowing
through said Sections 31, 30, and 24. Water to be
carried from said store-reservoirs to pipe-head or
service-reservoir on unformed road-line adjoining
Section 24, said Block VIII., North Harbour and
Blueskin, and thence through part of said Section 24
and unformed road-line, and along public roads to
Section 87, Wakari Survey District; thence through
Sections 87 and 91, Wakari District, and Block XI.,
Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, and 16, 15,
and 14, Block II., Upper Kaikorai Survey District,
and thence along public road to service-reservoirs to
