Land taken for a further Portion of the Foxton-New
Plymouth Railway, Waverley Contract (further
Portion for Ballast Pit).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the
authority of sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, and one hundred
and twenty-four of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
the middle line of a further portion of the line of
railway from Foxton to New Plymouth (Waverley
Contract, further portion), being one of the railways
specified in "The Public Works Act, 1879," was
defined: And whereas pursuant to the one hundred
and twenty-fifth section of "The Public Works Act,
1876," the Minister for Public Works has caused to be
made and, on the fifth day of April, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-two, to be deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
such maps and plans as were necessary to explain the
said further portion of the said line of railway and
the land through which the same passes, and such
maps and plans were referred to in such Procla-
mation as aforesaid: And whereas "The Public
Works Act, 1879," enacts that such of the railways
mentioned therein as are unfinished may be completed
under the provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
"The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878,"
and "The Public Works Act, 1879:" And whereas
the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
to be taken for the said further portion of the said
line of railway:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred by the sixth
section of "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1878," and of every power and authority in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the
said further portion of the said line of railway.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 3 roods 33 perches, situate in the
Survey District of Wairoa, Provincial District of
Wellington, being portion of Section No. 311, com-
mencing at a point on north-western angle of
portion of land acquired by a Proclamation dated
the 31st December, 1880, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of the 6th January,
1881, 300 links from a point on the north-eastern
boundary of Section No. 353. Bounded as follows:
North-westerly by a line, 200 links; North-easterly
by a line, 479 links; South-easterly by a line, 200
links; South-westerly by land already acquired to
commencing point, 479 links: be all the measurements
either more or less; the same being more particularly
delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 8923,
deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Christ-
church, this eighth day of April, in the

year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two.

Authorizing the taking and laying down of Roads in
the Wellington Provincial District.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN exercise and in pursuance of all rights of taking
roads reserved to the Crown in the grants of the
lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and in exer-
cise and pursuance of all powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, as and in the name of Her
Majesty the Queen, by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Crown Grants Act, 1866," I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby, in the name and on behalf
of Her said Majesty, authorize

GEORGE STRUTHERS,
Assistant-Surveyor, of Wellington, to enter upon the
said lands or any part thereof, and to take and lay off
such roads or lines of road as by the reservations in
the grants of the same respectively may be taken
and laid off, and for that purpose to exercise all such
powers as by the said Act may be exercised by a
person legally authorized in that behalf under the
said Act.
