A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twenty-fourth section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the Go-
vernor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time establish, and define, abolish, alter, or
reconstitute local districts for the sale or disposal of
land, and in like manner from time to time may
appoint Land Officers or other persons for conducting
sales of land in such local districts, and for receiving
applications for the sale, letting, disposal, or occupa-
tion of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into
effect the provisions of the said Act :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint

JACKSON KEDDELL

to be a Land Officer for conducting sales of land, and
for receiving applications for the sale, letting, and
disposal or occupation of Crown lands, and for gene-
rally carrying into effect the provisions of the said
Act within the Naseby Local Land District, as esta-
blished by Proclamation under the hand of His Excel-
lency the Governor, dated the sixteenth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
tenth day of January, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken under "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a certain work,
to wit, the construction of a road through Section
number two, Petone, Belmont Survey District, Pro-
vincial District of Wellington :

And whereas the Minister for Public Works has
laid before the Governor the memorial and map
mentioned in and signed and certified as required
by the said Acts:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, in exercise and pur-
suance of the powers and authorities in me vested
by sections twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three,
twenty-four, and twenty-five of "The Public
Works Act, 1876," and by section twenty-eight of "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and
of any other power and authority enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from
and after the twelfth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-two, the land so described
shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her
Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges,
