ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of March, 1882.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.

W Milton, Provincial District of Otago, mentioned
HEREAS the lands situated in the Town of
in the First Schedule hereto were, prior to the
passing of "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,"
vested in the Superintendent of Otago and his suc-
cessors as a site for a school: And whereas by virtue
of the said Act the same became vested in Her
Majesty the Queen: And whereas similarly the lands
situate in the County of Bruce, in the same provincial
district mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto,
being intended as a reserve for public purposes, are
now vested in Her Majesty the Queen: And whereas
it has been desired to exchange the said lands, so that
the lands mentioned in the Second Schedule may be-
come vested in the Education Board of the District of
Otago as a site for a school, and that the lands
mentioned in the First Schedule hereto may be held
by Her Majesty as a reserve for a site for Courthouse
and police purposes: And whereas by the thirty-
seventh paragraph of the Schedule to "The Special
Powers and Contracts Act, 1881," power is given to
His Excellency the Governor, by Order in Council,
to effect the objects hereinbefore mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby order and declare that the lands men-
tioned and described in the First Schedule hereto
shall henceforth be held as a reserve for a site for
Courthouse and police purposes; and, by and with
the like advice and consent, doth hereby order and
declare that the lands mentioned and described in
the Second Schedule hereto shall from henceforth
be vested in the Education Board of the District of
Otago, as a site for a school.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood
3 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 54, 55,
56, 57, 58, 64, 65, 66, and 67, Block VII., in the
Town of Milton. Bounded towards the North-west
by Spencer Street; towards the North-east by Sec-
tions Nos. 59 and 63; towards the South-east by
Johnson Street; towards the South-west and again
towards the South-east by Section No. 68; and
again towards the South-west by Section No. 53 to
Spencer Street.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by admeasurement 6 acres 3 roods,
more or less, being part of original Section No. 103,
Block XII., Tokomairiro District. Bounded towards
the North-east by a road-line, 924 links; towards
the South-east by the Main South Road, 709 links;
towards the South-west by the Town of Milton, 1123
links; and towards the North-west by Salmond's
Creek, 1250 links as the same is more particularly
delineated on the maps in the Survey Office,
Dunedin.

Nelson, Otago, and Southland.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

W section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
HEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which, in his opinion, are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve
from sale the land in the Land Districts of Nelson,
Otago, and Southland, described in the Schedule
hereunder written, for the purposes in the said
Schedule specified.
