church, this second day of March, in the
year of our Lord, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two.

Town District of Alexandra, Waikato, constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Town Districts Act, 1881"
, it is,
among other things, enacted that the inhabitants of
any locality not constituted a borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," wherein there
are not less than fifty householders, may apply by
petition to the Governor praying that such locality
may be constituted a town district under the said Act;
and that no such locality shall exceed two square
miles in area, and no one point in such area shall be
distant more than four miles from any other point
therein, except in the case of military townships;
and that in every such locality not less than two-
thirds of the number of the resident householders
shall concur in any such petition, and each signature
to such petition shall be verified by the attestation
of some respectable witness; and that such petition
shall set forth accurately the boundaries of the
locality to which such petition may refer; and also
that, on the receipt of any such petition, the Gover-
nor may, by Proclamation, declare that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within such
locality, and that the same shall be a town district
under the said Act; and, further, that such Procla-
mation shall accurately define the boundaries of the
district in accordance with the description contained
in the petition, and shall declare the name by which
such district shall thereafter be known:

Alexandra West, and bounded towards the North by
the Mangapiko River from its confluence with the
Waipa River; towards the East by Sections Nos. 296,
293, 292, 155, 294, 173, and 176, all of the Parish of
Mangapiko, and the western side of last-mentioned
section produced to the Waipa River; towards the
South by the said river to a point in line with the
southern boundary-line of Section No. 10, Alexandra
West Township; thence by a right line to and by
said boundary-line, the southern boundary-line of
Section No. 9, the eastern boundary-lines of Sections
Nos. 6 and 5, the southern boundary-line of said
Section No. 5 and of Section No. 1; towards the
West by the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos.
1, 2, 3A, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30,
the northern boundary-line of said Section No. 30,
by the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 43,
44, 45A, 45; towards the South-west (generally) by
west boundary of Section No. 318, an educational
reserve, the south-east boundary-lines of Sections
Nos. 253, 255, 255A, and 256, and the south-west
boundary-line of last-named section to the street-line
forming its north-west boundary, the south-east side of
said street-line produced to Section No. 15 of the Parish
of Pirongia, by said section, and by Sections Nos. 17
and 16, and the eastern boundary-line of last-men-
tioned section produced to the Waipa River; again
towards the North by the said river to a point
opposite the confluence of the Mangapiko River;
and thence by a right line across the Waipa River to
starting point: as the same is delineated on the plans
deposited in the Survey Office, Auckland.

And whereas a petition has been presented to the
Governor by the inhabitants of the locality men-
tioned and described therein, praying that such
locality may be constituted a town district under the
said Act:

And whereas not less than two-thirds of the num-
ber of resident householders in the said locality have
concurred in the said petition, and it is expedient
that a Proclamation should be issued under the said
Act for the purposes hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the hereinbefore in part recited Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within the
locality or district mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto (the same being the locality men-
tioned and set forth in the said petition, so presented
as aforesaid), and that the same shall be a town dis-
trict under the said Act: And, in further pursuance
and exercise of the said power and authority, I do
hereby declare that the said district shall hereafter
be known by the name of "The Alexandra Town
District;" and I do appoint that the Board of Com-
missioners of the said district shall consist of five in
number.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
comprising the Townships of Alexandra East and

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Christ-
church, this sixth day of March, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-two.

Setting apart Land in Westland for Agricultural
Leases.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-fourth section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," it is, amongst other things,
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor to
cause Crown lands situate within a gold field to be
selected and set apart for the purpose of granting
agricultural leases thereon and therefor, or for
alienation by occupation licenses on deferred pay-
ments under any law for the time being in force in
the land district in which such mining district is
situate:

And whereas the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are Crown lands subject to be dealt with under
the provisions of the said Act, and it is deemed expe-
dient to set the same apart for the purpose of granting
agricultural leases thereon and therefor:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
select and set apart, for the purpose of granting
agricultural leases thereon and therefor, the lands
described in the Schedule hereto; and do fix the
