TAKAKA TRAMWAY.
THE Takaka Tramway Company (Limited) intends
applying to the Governor in Council for an
order authorizing the construction of a tramway at
Takaka.
The proposed tramway is 8 miles and 25 chains
long, and is to be constructed of iron rails laid upon
wooden sleepers from the Waitapu Wharf to the
cross road between East Takaka Church and the
Takaka River.
The gauge of the line is to be 2 feet 6 inches, and
the traffic to be worked by locomotive steam-engines.
The line goes through the village or township of
Waitapu, but no other township or city, and from
thence up the valley of the Takaka River, through
part of the district called Takaka.
The times and places at which the deposit under
Part II., Third Schedule, of "The Tramways Act,
1872," will be made are the 17th day of March,
1882, and the Supreme Court Office, Nelson, the
Courthouse, Takaka, and the office of the Hon. the
Minister for Public Works, Wellington.
Printed copies of the draft order when deposited,
and of the order when made, will be obtained at the
Courthouse, Takaka.
