A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in
me by the seventh section of "The Mines Act,
1877," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the
occupation of the land described in the Schedule
hereto for mining purposes, provided that no person
shall be allowed to occupy any portion of the said
land without obtaining the sanction of the Warden
of the district, and that the land shall be at all times
worked to the satisfaction of the Warden, who shall
have power to stop any works if he sees good reason
for doing so.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 174 acres, be the same more or less,
situated in the District of Lyell, being Sections Nos.
16 and 17 on Square 139 on the plan of the Land
District of Nelson, and bounded as follows: On the
Northward partly by the Lyell Creek and partly by
Section 6 (Pensini's freehold); on the Eastward,
2475 links and 3549 links, by Crown land; on the
Southward, 3379 links, by Crown land; on the West-
ward, 1447 and 2132 links, by a road reserve along
the bank of the River Buller and partly by the River
Buller: excepting and excluding a school site, con-
taining 2 acres, more or less, situated between the
main road and the River Buller; a portion of Ceme-
tery Reserve within Section No. 16, containing about
1 acre; the Lyell Reservoir, and 50 links on either
side of the Lyell Water-race, also all surveyed sec-

the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this

of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-two.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the
Governor has been pleased to pronounce the
under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and
that the ground is now open for application as if no
lease of the said ground had ever been applied for :-
John Fairless; 2 acres 1 rood, District of Charles-
ton, Nelson South-West Gold Fields. No. 780.
