SPENCER GULF.-LOWLY POINT.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 5, of 1882, it
is hereby notified that, owing to unavoidable circum-
stances, the lighthouse now being erected on Lowly
Point will not be ready for exhibition of the light
before February, 1883.
Further particulars will be furnished in due course.

LIGHTHOUSE AT CARPENTER ROCKS, ADJACENT TO
CAPE BANKS, S.E. COAST.
REFERRING to Notices Nos. 4 and 12, of 1882,
mariners are hereby informed that, on and after the
night of the 1st January, 1883, there will be ex-
hibited from a lighthouse erected on the point known
as Carpenter Rocks a second order revolving light
showing alternately one red and two bright lights,
at intervals of 20 seconds each. The red light will
be visible about eight miles, and the bright lights
about ten miles, all round the horizon.

General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the forty-fourth year of the reign of Her Majesty

1880," the following name of an Officiating Minister
within the meaning of the said Act is published for
general information :-

the 16th day of March next, at 10 o'clock in the fore-
noon, at this office, to hear the said application and all
objections thereto; and I require all persons having
an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters
Patent to leave, on or before the 1st day of March
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to the said application, otherwise they will
be precluded from urging the same.

Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification

NOTICE.-SYDNEY ALFRED WANT, Solicitor of
the Supreme Court of New South Wales, at
Sydney, has been appointed this day, by his Honour
Mr. Justice Williams, a Commissioner of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand, in the said city, under "The
Commissioners of the Supreme Court Act, 1875,"
for the purpose of administering and taking affidavits
and acknowledgments of married women, as in the
said Act mentioned.

Institution for the Deaf-and-Dumb, Sumner.
APPLICATIONS for appointment to the office of
Assistant-Master in this institution will be
received at this office up to the 31st December next.
The salary at first will be either Β£110 with board,
&c., or Β£150 without board. Applications must be
accompanied with testimonials, and particulars as to
age, &c. No previous training in the method of
instruction here adopted is required. A teacher
holding a certificate of Class D from the Education
Department would be preferred. The person ap-
pointed will be required to enter on his duties about
the end of January.
