Exchange of Land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury.

JAMES PRENDERGAST,
Administrator of the Government.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-eighth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," power is
given to the Governor to exchange any land set apart
as a reserve for other land of equal value as he may
think fit, and to make a Crown grant thereof ac-
cordingly:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Jus-
tice of the Colony of New Zealand, and Adminis-
trator of the Government thereof, in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said
Act, do hereby declare that the land mentioned in
the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be
exchanged for the land mentioned in the second
column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Reserve Intended to be Exchanged, Description of Land to be Obtained in Exchange therefor.
Section No. 1429 (in red) in the Ashburton District, Provincial Dis- trict of Canterbury. For a gravel-pit. Described in the Provincial Govern- ment Gazette, dated 18th February, 1874, as con- taining 12 acres, and found on survey to con- tain 14 acres 3 roods 20 perches. Of which it is proposed to exchange 13 acres and 36 perches. Bounded—Northward by Sections Nos. 6811 and 16855, 1104 and 448 links respectively; East- ward by the Longbeach Road, 1012 links; South- ward by a line at right angles to the eastern boundary; and West- ward by Section No. 6812. All that parcel of land in the Hinds Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 13 acres and 36 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 8402. Bounded—Northward by Reserve No. 1429 (in red); Eastward by the Longbeach Road, 964 links; South- ward by a road-line; and Westward by Section No. 6812.

nineteenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one.

Trustee appointed for the Raglan Cemetery.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the fourth section
of "The Cemetries Management Act, 1877," I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby appoint

EDWARD FRISSELL

to be a Trustee, in place of Richard Galvan, deceased,
to provide for the maintenance and care of the
Raglan Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the
other persons appointed by warrant under the hand
of His Excellency the Governor on the sixth day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this first day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

Authorizing the taking and laying down of Roads
over Native Land in the Auckland Provincial
District.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers and
authorities enabling me in this behalf by "The
Native Land Act, 1873," "The Native Land Act
Amendment Act, 1878 (No. 2)," and "The Public
Works Act, 1880," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
authorize

SYDNEY WEETMAN,
District Surveyor, of Auckland, to take and lay
down roads over the land specified in the Schedule
hereto, and for that purpose to exercise all such
powers as by the said Acts may be exercised by a
person legally authorized in that behalf under the
said Acts.

Reopening the Port of Tauranga.

A. GORDON, Governor.

IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose
vested by "The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,"
I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that, on
and from the date hereof, there shall be a port to be
called

THE PORT OF TAURANGA,

the limits whereof shall be as follows: All the
navigable waters included within a radius seaward
of one and a half nautic miles from the centre of
Mount Maunganui, and a straight line drawn from
Omokoroa Point to Ponui Point, and including the
Township of Te Papa. And I do hereby appoint
that the Port of Tauranga shall be a warehousing
port for the purpose of "The Customs Regulation
Act, 1858," and do approve of the same as a port for
the importation of tobacco.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-eighth day of
October, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.
