SOUTHLAND COUNTY.
I HEREBY give notice that, in pursuance of the
powers granted by "The Public Works Act,
1876," the Southland County Council did, on the
14th January, 1881, declare the following road to be
a county road within the meaning of the said Act,
viz.: Road through Sections 38 and 37, Block XI.,
Invercargill Hundred, commencing on south boun-
dary of the said Section 38, and terminating at the
north-east corner of the said Section 37.

CARLYLE TOWN BOARD.—LAND TO BE TAKEN
FOR A ROAD.
Carlyle, 22nd January, 1881.
NOTICE is hereby given of the intention of the
Carlyle Town Board, in pursuance of Part II.
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," to take for a
public road the land described in the Schedule here-
to and shown upon the plan deposited in the office
of the Carlyle Town Board; and the owners and
occupiers of the said lands are hereby called upon to
set forth in writing any well-grounded objection they
may have to the taking of the said lands, and to send
such writing to the Chairman of the Carlyle Town
Board within forty days from the first publication
hereof.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 roods 37.6 perches, more or less,
situated in the Survey District of Carlyle, Provincial
District of Taranaki, being parts of Block XLVII.,
Town of Carlyle, and of Suburban Section 40; com-
mencing at the most eastern corner of Section 40;
thence bounded generally South-easterly by a public
road, 52½ links; thence generally North-easterly by
part of Block XLVII., 735 links; thence generally
North-westerly by Section 74, 52½ links, and by
Section 36, 52½ links; thence generally South-
westerly by other part of Section 40, 735 links;
thence generally South-easterly by a public road, 52½
links, to commencing point.

WAIMATE COUNTY COUNCIL.
NOTICE is hereby given that, under the provisions
conferred on the Waimate County Council
under and by virtue of "The Public Works Act,
1876," and "The Public Works Act 1876 Amend-
ment Act, 1878," and Amendment Act, 1880, the
said Council has caused a survey to be made of the
land, a description of which is given in the Schedule
hereto, and a plan thereof prepared in accordance
with the said Acts, which plan has been deposited at
the Council Chambers, Queen Street, Waimate, for
inspection, as provided for by the aforesaid Acts; and
that the nature of the works proposed to be executed
on the said land is the formation of a road for public
use.
And notice is hereby given that all persons affected
by the taking of the said parcel of land or by the
formation of the said road are hereby called upon
to set forth in writing any and all well-grounded
objections to the formation of the said road or to the
taking of the said land, and to hand such writing,
within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Waimate County Council aforesaid,
whose office is in Queen Street, Waimate, Provincial
District of Canterbury.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 acres 3 roods and 12 perches, more or
less, being a strip of land 75 links wide, portion of
Rural Section 4312; commencing at a point bearing
131°35′, distant 1283 links from the north-west corner
of the aforesaid section; thence on a bearing of
221° 30', a distance of 3770 links, to its intersection
with the Main Bush Road. Bounded on the North-
west side by a road-line 25 links in width; on the
South-east by a line parallel to and 75 links apart
from the aforesaid boundary; on the North-east by
High Street, 75 links; and on the South-west by the
Main Bush Road, 75 links: as the same is delineated
on the plan deposited and coloured red thereon.
