Defining a District under "The Thermal-Springs
Districts Act, 1881."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The
Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881," it is,
among other things, enacted that the Governor may
issue Proclamations from time to time defining dis-
tricts of the colony to be subject to the said Act,
being localities in which there are considerable
numbers of the ngawha, waiariki, or hot or mineral
springs, lakes, rivers, or waters: And whereas by
the said Act it is also enacted that, until otherwise
ordered by the General Assembly, the said Act shall
be in force within the Counties of Tauranga and East
Taupo only: And whereas the territory described
in the Schedule hereto is situate in the said Counties
of Tauranga and East Taupo, and is a locality in
which there are considerable numbers of ngawha,
waiariki, or hot or mineral springs, lakes, rivers, and
waters, and it is expedient that such territory should
be defined as a district subject to the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the hereinbefore in part recited
Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the por-
tion of the said colony described in the Schedule
hereto, being a locality in which there are consider-
able numbers of the ngawha, waiariki, or hot or
mineral springs, lakes, rivers, and waters, shall be
and the same is hereby defined to be a district sub-
ject to "The Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881."
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 616,890 acres, more or less, situated in
the Counties of Tauranga and East Taupo; and
bounded towards the North-east and North by a line
from Otanewainuku to the south-west angle of the
Kaikokopu Block; thence by that block to its south-
eastern angle; thence by a right line in the direction
of Trig. Station 2 (Manawhae) to the western
boundary of the Waitahanui Block; towards the
East by that block and the Haehaenga Block to the
Tarawera River; thence by that river to a point
due south of Trig. Station 18 (Maungawhaka-
mana); thence by a line running due south until
intersected by a line drawn from Trig. Station
19 (Okahu) to the north-western angle of the
Kaingaroa No. 1 Block, and by the said line to the
said north-western angle of said block, and by
the western boundary-line of that block to its
intersection with a line drawn due east from the
summit of Paeroa Trig. Station 31 (Waiwhakahihi);
towards the South by the last-mentioned line to its
intersection with the Waiotapu River; thence by
that river to its confluence with the Waikato River;
thence by the Waikato River to its confluence with
the Orakanui Stream; thence by that stream to its
intersection by a line drawn due east from the north-
eastern angle of the Te Hukui Block, and by the said
line to the said north-eastern angle; towards the
West by a right line; thence to the south-eastern
angle of the Whakamaru Block at the Waikato
River; thence by the said Whakamaru Block to the
Whangapoua Stream, and by that stream to the
Tikorangi Block; thence towards the South-west by
the Tikorangi Block and the Tokoroa Block to a point
in a line drawn between Uira Gorge and Poutihi;
thence towards the West by that line to the Whaiti and
Kuranui No. 1 Block; thence by that block and the
Whaiti and Kuranui Nos. 2 and 3, Paengaroa No. 1,
and Taumata No. 2 Blocks, to Puwhenua Trig.
Station 27; thence by a right line to the summit of
Otanewainuku, the point of commencement: ex-
clusive of the Pukeroa and Ruawhata Blocks and
land granted to the Church Mission Society at Te
Ngae; as the same is delineated on the plans in the
District Survey Office, Auckland.
