cause Crown lands situate within a gold field to be
selected and set apart for the purpose of granting
agricultural leases thereon and therefor, or for
alienation by occupation licenses on deferred pay-
ments under any law for the time being in force in
the land district in which such mining district is
situate:

And whereas the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are Crown lands subject to be dealt with
under the provisions of the said Act, and it is
deemed expedient to set the same apart for the
purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and
therefor:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice
of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator
of the Government thereof, do hereby select and
set apart, for the purpose of granting agricultural
leases thereon and therefor, the lands described in the
Schedule hereto; and do fix the twenty-ninth day of
November next ensuing, at the office of the Commis-
sioner of Crown Lands at Hokitika, as the day and
place on which the said land shall be open for appli-
cation in allotments, as surveyed and marked on the
selection maps in that office.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing 150 acres,
more or less, being an island situated in the Tere-
makaΕ« River, in Block XIII. on the map of the
Hohonu Survey District; and which said island is
bounded towards the East by main stream of said
river; and towards the West by back channel
thereof.

All that piece or parcel of land containing 60
acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IV. and VIII.
on the map of the Waimea Survey District, on the
north side of the New River, opposite Fuschia Creek.
Bounded towards the South by road reserved along
said side of New River; towards the North by foot
of Limestone Range; and towards the East and
West by straight lines running due north and
south to include the quantity.

All that piece or parcel of land containing 80
acres, more or less, situated in Block V. on the map
of the Kanieri Survey District, commencing at Peg
No. 81, Ross Road, and extending thence northerly
along said road a distance of 2000 links, with a depth
of 4000 links.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
James Prendergast, Chief Justice, the
Administrator of the Government of Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
this fifteenth day of October, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on

deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Southland did, on
the twenty-second day of September, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, pass a resolution re-
commending that the land described in the Schedule
hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on de-
ferred payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to set apart the said
land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice
of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator
of the Government thereof, in pursuance and exercise
of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereto is
set apart for sale on deferred payments; and that
Wednesday, the twenty-third day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, shall be the
day on which the said land shall be open for applica-
tion at the Land Office at Invercargill, in allotments
as surveyed and marked on the selection map in that
office.

And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do
hereby fix the price at which the land so described
shall be sold to be the price set opposite each allot-
ment in the Schedule hereto.
