Defining Te Pukeroa-o-Ruawhata Block a District
under "The Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881".

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The
Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881," it is,
among other things, enacted that the Governor may
issue Proclamations from time to time defining
districts of the colony to be subject to the said Act,
being localities in which there are considerable
numbers of the ngawha, waiariki, or hot or mineral
springs, lakes, rivers, or waters: And whereas by
the said Act it is also enacted that, until otherwise
ordered by the General Assembly, the said Act shall
be in force within the Counties of Tauranga and East
Taupo only: And whereas the territory described
in the Schedule hereto is situate in the said County
of Tauranga, and is a locality in which there are con-
siderable numbers of ngawha, waiariki, or hot or
mineral springs and waters, and it is expedient that
such territory should be defined as a district subject
to the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Admin-
istrator of the Government of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the hereinbefore in part
recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
portion of the said colony described in the Schedule
hereto, being a locality in which there are consider-
able numbers of the ngawha, waiariki, or hot or
mineral springs and waters, shall be and the same
is hereby defined to be a district subject to "The
Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881."
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land situated in the
Horohoro and Tarawera Survey Districts, Provincial
District of Auckland, containing by admeasurement
about 3,200 acres, more or less, and being called or
known as Te Pukeroa-o-Ruawhata Block. Bounded
towards the North-east by Rotorua Lake from the
mouth of the Utuhina to the mouth of the Puarenga
Stream; thence towards the East and South-east by
the Puarenga Stream aforesaid to Rua-kio-koko;
thence towards the South-west and South by lines,
6960 links and 8614 links, to Ngatautara Pa; and
thence towards the West by a line, 2395 links, to Te
Rere and the Utuhina Stream, to the point of com-
mencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
James Prendergast, Chief Justice, the
Administrator of the Government of Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twelfth day of October, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and au-
thorities conferred upon me by the twentieth
section of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1879," I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice of the
Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator of the
Government thereof, do hereby set apart the lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto for sale as
village settlements, upon such terms and conditions
as are set forth in an Order in Council of even date
herewith, and made under the twenty-first section of
the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
VILLAGE OF HAMPDEN.
BOUNDED on the Northward by Sections 94 and 94A,
Square 170; on the Eastward by Sections 19, 20, 21,
and 22, Hampden Suburban; on the Southward by
Sections 29, 30A, 31A, 32A, 33A, 20, 31, 30, 23, 24,
and 27, Hampden Suburban; and on the Westward
by Sections 26, 25, 23, and 28, Hampden Suburban.
VILLAGE OF THORPE.
Bounded on the North-eastward by Sections 5, 23,
and 24, Thorpe Suburban; on the South-eastward
partly by the River Dove and partly by a public
road; on the South-westward by Sections 14, 15, and
16, Thorpe Suburban; and on the North-westward
by Sections 2, 3, 4, and 5, Thorpe Suburban.
VILLAGE OF CLIFTON.
Bounded on the Northward by high-water mark of
Golden Bay; on the South-eastward by Sections 153
and 152, Square 11; on the South-westward partly
by Sections numbered parts 2 and 1 of Section 155,
Square 11, and partly by high-water mark of Motu-
pipi Inlet.
VILLAGE OF SEAFORD.
Bounded on the North-eastward by Section 14,
Square 15; on the Eastward by high-water mark of
Golden Bay; on the Southward partly by Section
13, Square 15, and partly by high-water mark of the
Pakawau Inlet; and on the North-westward by Sec-
tion 29, Square 15.
VILLAGE OF ROTOITI.
Bounded on the North-eastward partly by Section
92, Square 46, and partly by Crown land; on the
South-eastward by Crown land; on the South-west-
ward partly by Lake Rotoiti and partly by Section
22, Square 46; and North-westward by Sections 91
and 92, Square 46.
HAMPDEN SUBURBAN.
Bounded on the Northward by the River Buller;
on the Eastward partly by Crown land and partly
by Section 64, Square 170; on the Southward partly
by Crown land and partly by Sections 63, 64, 41, and
40, Square 170; and on the Westward by the River
Matakitaki: excepting and excluding the Town of
Hampden.
THORPE SUBURBAN.
Bounded on the North-eastward partly by Crown
land and partly by Sections 2 and 139, Square 2; on
the South-eastward partly by the River Dove and
partly by a public road; on the South-westward by
Sections 82 and 83, Square 6; and on the North-
westward by Crown land: excepting and excluding
the Village of Thorpe.
Given under the Hand of His Excellency Sir
James Prendergast, Chief Justice, the
Administrator of the Government of Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
