Division of Borough of the City of Nelson into Four
Wards, under "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
section twenty-one, it is enacted that,
if not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of a
borough petition the Governor, praying him to divide
such borough into wards, the Governor may, by Pro-
clamation, divide such borough into not less than
three nor more than six wards, and shall in such
Proclamation assign such names and boundaries to
each ward as he thinks fit: And whereas not less
than one-fourth of the burgesses of the Borough of
the City of Nelson have petitioned me to divide such
borough into wards:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
hereinbefore recited authority, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the Borough of the City of Nelson
shall be and the same is hereby divided into four
wards, and that the names and boundaries of such
wards shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

PORT WARD.

ALL that area bounded towards the North-east by
the boundary-line of the Borough of Nelson to a
point at which the production of the western side of
Trafalgar Street North intersects said boundary-line;
towards the East by a right line to said side of
Trafalgar Street North and by said street to Hardy
Street; towards the South by Hardy Street to western
side of Vanguard Street North; towards the South-
east by last-mentioned street; towards the South-
west by Gloucester Street to western side of St.
Vincent Street; again towards the South-east by
last-mentioned street to the most southerly corner of
Section 630; again towards the South-west by Sec.
tions 629 and F1 and the north-eastern boundary-
line of Section F1 produced to western side of
Quebec Road; again towards the South-east and
South by said road and a right line from the most
westerly corner of Section G1 to boundary-line of
borough at the most easterly corner of Section 1,
Suburban South Survey District; and again towards
the South-west and towards the West by boundary-
lines of the borough.

WOOD WARD.

All that area bounded towards the North, North-
east, East, North-west, and again towards the North,
and again towards the North-east, by the boundary-
lines of the Borough of Nelson to the Maitai River;
again towards the East and towards the South
by said river to a point on its right bank at which
the production of the northern side of Hardy Street
would intersect it by a right line to said side of said
street, and by said street to Port Ward, before
described; and again towards the West by said
ward.

WAIMEA WARD.

All that area bounded towards the North by Port
Ward, before described; towards the East by Trafalgar
Street North to Trafalgar Square; towards the South,
again towards the East, and again towards the North,
by said square; again towards the East by Trafalgar
Street South; again towards the South by Van Diemen
Street to a point on the north side of said street at
which the western side of Hill Street produced
would intersect it; again towards the East by a right
line to and by said side of Hill Street to Section
D11; again towards the South by said section; again
towards the East and South-east by said section and
by Section D12 to a road-line forming the south-
western boundary of last-mentioned section; towards
the North-east by said Section D12 to the western side
of Grampian Road; towards the South-east by said
road to the boundary of the borough; and towards
the South-west and North-west by the boundary-lines
of the borough.

BROOK WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Nelson not
included in areas above described.
