"Bridges and Ferries Act, 1868," brought into
Operation in the County of Wairoa.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Bridges and Ferries Act,
1868," it is enacted that the Governor may
from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zea-
land Gazette, declare the said Act to be in operation
in any county, district, or other division of the colony
to be defined in such Proclamation, and on a day to
be fixed in any such Proclamation the said Act shall
come into operation within the county, district, or
other division named or defined therein, as the case
may be, and not before:

And whereas the County Council of the County of
Wairoa is desirous that the said Act should be
brought into operation in the said county:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the power and authority vested in
me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that on the first day of September, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, the said "Bridges and
Ferries Act, 1868," shall be in operation in the
County of Wairoa.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one

District constituted under "The Marriage Act, 1880."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in the Governor by "The Marriage
Act, 1880," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the
existing marriage districts known as the Gabriel's
and Blue Spur Districts, and do proclaim and declare
that the territory heretofore comprised within the
said districts is hereby included in one marriage dis-
trict, the name and boundaries whereof shall be as
follow:-

GABRIEL'S DISTRICT.

All that area bounded towards the West by a line
parallel to and 20 chains distant from the Clutha
River, from a point opposite the Crookburn to a
point opposite Beaumont Burn; towards the North
and North-west by a right line to the junction of the
said Beaumont Burn with the Clutha, and by the
Beaumont to its source; thence by a leading ridge
to Lammerlaw; towards the North-east and East by
the watershed between the Tuapeka and Waipori
and Waitahuna Rivers to the source of the Crook-
burn; and towards the South-east by the Crookburn
to its junction with the Clutha, and by a right line
across said Clutha River to starting point: as the
same is delineated on the plan deposited in the
Survey Office, Dunedin.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation on the first day of September,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.
