the eastern boundary of Allotment No. 118, to the
road at the north-western angle; thence by the
southern side of said road to the south-eastern angle
of Allotment No. 118 aforesaid; thence easterly,
crossing said road, and by the northern boundary of
Allotment No. 117 of the Parish of Opaheke afore-
said, to the road which forms its eastern boundary;
thence northerly by the western side of said road to
a point on the same, being the production in a
westerly direction of the northern boundary of
Allotment No. 129 of said parish, and continuing
along said line and the northern boundary of Allot-
ment No. 129 aforesaid to the western boundary of
Allotment No. 130; thence by part of the western
boundary of the last-named lot to its northernmost
angle; thence by the southern and western side of
the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of
Allotment No. 130 aforesaid to a point on the same,
being a production in a westerly direction of the
southern boundary of Allotment No. 13 of the
Parish of Otau; thence by the southern and eastern
boundaries of the last-named lot and the eastern
boundary of Allotment No. 12 to its north-eastern
angle; towards the North-east by a right line in a
south-easterly direction from the north-eastern
boundary of Allotment No. 12 of the Parish of
Otau aforesaid to the Maungatawhiri River; towards
the South-east by the Maungatawhiri River aforesaid
to the north-western boundary of Allotment No. 35
of the Parish of Otau; thence by the north-western
and south-western boundaries of Allotment No. 35

also of the Parish of Otau before mentioned, the
crossing of a road 100 links wide, the southern
boundary of Allotment No. 142 of the Parish of
Maungatawhiri, to the road which forms its south-
western boundary; towards the South by the north-
ern side of said road to the south-eastern angle of
Allotment No. 116 of the Parish of Maungatawhiri
aforesaid; thence by the north-eastern, north-western,
and south-western boundaries of Allotment No. 116
aforesaid to the road at its south-western angle;
thence by the northern side of said road to the
north-eastern boundary of Allotment No. 114, also
of the Parish of Maungatawhiri aforesaid; thence by
the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of
Allotment No. 114 last-named, and by said last-named
boundary produced to the centre of the road which
forms its south-western boundary; thence northerly
by the centre of said road south-eastern
angle of Allotment No. 102 of the Parish of Maunga-
tawhiri aforesaid; thence by a right line due south
to the southern side of said road; thence westerly
by the southern side of said road to the eastern
boundary of Allotment No. 103, and by the eastern
and southern boundaries of Allotment No. 103 afore-
said to the road at its south-western angle; thence
northerly by the eastern side of said road to a point
being the production in an easterly direction of the
northern boundary of Allotment No. 171; thence
crossing said road at the place last described, and
following the northern boundary of Allotment No.
171 aforesaid to the road which forms its north-
western boundary, and continuing southerly along
the eastern side of said road to the south-western
angle of Allotment No. 169; thence crossing said
road and continuing along the northern boundary of
Allotment No. 168 and part of the eastern and the
whole of the northern boundary of Allotment No.
156 to the road at the north-western angle of last-
named lot; thence crossing said road and continuing
northerly along its western side to its junction with
the road which forms the north-western boundary
of Allotment No. 147; thence by the southern side
of said road to the north-western angle of Allotment
No. 20 of Suburban Section No. 20 of Suburban
Section No. 2 of the Parish of Maungatawhiri; thence
crossing said road and continuing northerly along its
western side to the northern boundary of Allotment
No. 18, also of Suburban Section No. 2, of the Parish
of Maungatawhiri aforesaid; thence by the northern
boundary of Allotment No. 18 aforesaid, the northern
boundary of Allotment No. 13, and by said last-
named boundary produced to the centre of the Great
South Road; and towards the South-west by the
centre of the Great South Road to its junction with
the road which traverses Allotment No. 49 of the
Parish of Opaheke first-mentioned, the place of com-
mencement.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this seventeenth day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

"Highways Act, 1874" (Auckland), brought into
Operation in Paparata Highway District.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
UNDER and in pursuance of an Act of the Pro-
vince of Auckland intituled "The Highways
Act, 1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that I
do hereby bring the said "Highways Act, 1874," into
operation in the Paparata Highway District; and I
further notify that I do hereby appoint the seventeenth
day of September, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one, at two o'clock in the afternoon, at the
Public Hall, Bombay, to be the day, hour, and place
for the first meeting of ratepayers for the said dis-
trict; and I appoint Thomas Jackson, Esquire, R.M.,
to be the Chairman of such meeting.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this seventeenth day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

Exchange of Land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-eighth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," power is
given to the Governor to exchange any land set apart
as a reserve for other land of equal value as he may
think fit, and to make a Crown grant thereof ac-
cordingly:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said
Act, do hereby declare that the land mentioned in
the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be ex-
changed for the land mentioned in the second column
of the said Schedule.
