any other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is taken by the
Council of the said borough for the purposes of a
road; and that, from and after the eleventh day
of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one, the said land shall become vested in fee-simple
in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the
Borough of Hamilton, discharged from all mortgages,
charges, claims, estates, and interests of what kind
soever, for the purposes of a road as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land being part of Allot-
ment No. 60, Hamilton West, County of Waipa,
Provincial District of Auckland, containing by ad-
measurement 14 perches, more or less. Bounded-
Northerly by Richmond Street, 360 links; and
Southerly and South-easterly by lines, 296 and 84
links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more
or less, and the same being more particularly de-
lineated on the map attached to the memorial above
referred to.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighth day of August, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Land within the Nelson South-West Gold Field
exempted from Occupation for Mining Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Mines
Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor in the Proclamation constituting a
mining district, and also from time to time by Procla-
mation subsequently issued, either by general or par-
ticular description, to set apart for mining purposes
exclusively any portion of Crown lands within a mining
district, and in like manner to exempt from occupa-
tion for mining purposes, or for water-races, dams,
or reservoirs, or for machine, business, or residence
sites, any land within the boundaries of such mining
district, and from time to time any such exemption
to revoke, and the limits and extent of the land in
any such district comprised to alter as he may think
fit:

And whereas at the time of the commencement
of the said Act there was constituted a gold field
known as the Nelson South-West Gold Field, and
such gold field is, by the provisions of the said
"Mines Act, 1877," to be deemed a mining district
under that Act:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule
hereto is within such mining district, and it is ex-
pedient to exempt the same from occupation for
mining purposes, or for water-races, dams, or reser-
voirs, or for machine, business, or residence sites:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in
me by "The Mines Act, 1877," do proclaim and de-
clare that the land described in the Schedule hereto
is hereby exempted from occupation for mining pur-
poses, or for water-races, dams, or reservoirs, or for
machine, business, or residence sites.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Nelson,
containing by admeasurement 102 acres, more or
less; and bounded towards the West by a right line
bearing due north (magnetic), commencing at a
point in the centre line of the Wellington Coal
Companys' Branch Railway distant 3050 links (along
the said centre line) from its junction with the
Mount Rochfort Railway centre line, 1430 links;
towards the North by a right line bearing south 67°
east (magnetic), 4120 links; towards the North-east,
East, and South-east by a right line bearing south
23° 30′ east (magnetic) 530 links, by a right line
bearing due south (magnetic) 1240 links, by a right
line bearing south 20° west (magnetic) 1095 links,
by a right line bearing south 7° 30′ west 1405 links,
and by a right line bearing south 55° west (magnetic)
575 links; towards the South-west by a line bearing
north 17° west, 3155 links; towards the South by
a line bearing north 72° 30′ west (magnetic), 2155
links; and again towards the West by a line bearing
due north (magnetic), 1000 links, to starting point:
excepting from the above-described area the area set
apart by Proclamation for the use of the Wellington
Coal-Mining Company; be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less.

Longwood.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and fifty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor, by Proclamation, may from time
to time declare any Crown lands within any mining
district, not held under license or lease at the date of
such Proclamation, or over which the license or lease
has been cancelled, to be open for sale or selection,
in sections of such sizes and form, and on such date,
as he may determine:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
declare that the land enumerated in the Schedule
