THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
I, the undersigned, hereby make application to
register the Pipeclay Channel Company as
a Limited Company under the provisions of "The
Mining Companies Act, 1872."
- The name of the Company is to be the Pipeclay
Channel Company (Limited). - The place of operations is at Bannockburn, near Crom-
well. - The registered office of the Company will be situated at
Melmore Street, Cromwell. - The nominal capital of the Company is one thousand
two hundred and fifty pounds, in fifty shares of twenty-five
pounds each. - The number of shares subscribed for is forty-eight, being
not less than two-thirds of the entire number of shares in
the Company. - The number of paid-up shares is nil.
- The amount already paid up is two pounds per share, viz.,
ninety-six pounds. - The name of the Manager is Charles Colclough.
- The names, addresses, and occupations of the shareholders,
and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as

General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The
Justices of the Peace Act, 1866."

PATENT NOTICE.
TO all whom it may concern.-Public notice is
hereby given that, on the twenty-third day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty,
Letters Patent were issued by His Excellency Sir
Hercules Robinson, then Governor of New Zealand,
to WILLIAM ANDERSON EWING, for the manufacture
of a certain cement to be called "The New Zealand
Cement," and to be made from a calcareous sand-
stone of the Oamaru, Waipara, and Pareora formations,
found in various parts of the Colony of New Zealand,
in the manner therein described. And the public is
hereby warned against infringing the said letters
patent by making cement out of the said materials or
formations, as legal proceedings will at once be
taken against any persons so doing.
Dated this eighteenth day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one.

PATENT for Improvements in Machinery for the
Crushing, Pulverizing, Treating, and Amalgama-
ting of Auriferous Ores, and the Extraction of the
Precious Metals therefrom.
RICHARD JAMES TONKS, of Greymouth, New
Zealand, has deposited at this office a specification
of the said invention, and I have appointed Friday,
the 30th day of September next, at 10 o'clock in the
forenoon, at this office, to hear the application and
all objections thereto; and I require all persons
having an interest in opposing the grant of such
Patent to leave, on or before the 26th day of
September next, at this office, particulars in writing
of their objections to the said application, otherwise
they will be precluded from urging the same.

I, GEORGE PICKERING RICHARDS, Lic. Soc. Apoth.
Lond., L.R.C.P. Ed., M.R.C.S., now residing in
Hawera, in the Provincial District of Taranaki, hereby
give you notice that it is my intention to apply to
you on the 27th July, 1881, to have my name placed on
the Medical Register for the Colony of New Zealand,
and that I have deposited my evidence of qualifica-
tion for public inspection in the office of the Regis-
trar-General of the colony at Wellington.
