Operation of "The Maori Prisoners Act, 1880,"
extended.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Maori Prisoners Act, 1880"
(hereinafter called "the said Act), it is, among
other things, enacted that the said Act shall remain
in force until the last day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty, and no longer, unless the
Governor shall be satisfied that it is necessary to
extend the operation thereof, in which case he may,
by Proclamation from time to time, extend such
operation for any period not exceeding three months
at one time:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-sixth day of October last the operation of the
said Act was extended for the period of three
months:

And whereas I am satisfied that it is necessary to
further extend the operation of the said Act in the
manner therein provided for the period hereinafter
mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the authority contained in the said
Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the operation of the said Act shall be and the
same is hereby extended for the further period of
three months.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
seventh day of January, in the year of
our Lord, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Appointing Reviewers under "The Property Assess-
ment Act, 1879," and assigning Districts.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me on that behalf by "The
Property Assessment Act, 1879," and of all other
powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in
that behalf, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
the several persons whose names are mentioned in
the First Schedule hereto to be Reviewers of Pro-
perty Assessments under "The Property Assess-
ment Act, 1879;" and, in further pursuance of
the said powers and authorities, I do further
appoint that Edward Pearce shall be a member of a
Board of Reviewers for the Wellington District, in con-
junction with William Lockwood Hirst and William
Sefton Moorhouse, in lieu of the Hon. Walter Baldock
Durant Mantell, resigned; and also that each of the
groups of three of the said Reviewers respectively
mentioned in the first column of the Second Schedule
hereto, and bracketed together, shall respectively
form a Board of Reviewers under "The Property
Assessment Act, 1879," and I do further assign to
