next, a light will be exhibited from the Eastern Pier,
Napier.

The light will be one of Messrs. Chance Brothers
and Co.'s fifth order port lights, and will be visible
from the bearing of S.W. W. round to the south
and eastward as far as the land will allow. It will
show white, red, and green on the following bearings,
viz. :-
White, S.W. W. to S.W. S.
Red, S.W. S. to S.W. by S. S. (over Pania
Rock).
White, S.W. by S. S. to S. E.
Green, S. E. to S.E. by S. S. (over anchorage).
White, westward of anchorage.
Vessels coming from the south should open the
white light before rounding the Bluff, to avoid the
Auckland Rock.

The light will be exhibited from an open timber-
work structure, painted black, which is situated about
190 feet from the end of the Eastern Pier.

The light will be elevated about 27 feet above the
level of the sea, and will be visible about seven
nautic miles in clear weather, allowing 10 feet for
the height of the observer's eye.

The fixed red and white light and the two green
lights at present in use at the Spit and the Piers,
Napier, will be discontinued from the date on which
this light is shown.

All bearings are magnetic and from seaward.
