Persian, an Englishman, a Scotchman, an Irishman, a
Frenchman, and a German, in various attitudes. In
a scroll over the upper part of the picture are the
words "The Flower of all Nations," and on a repre-
sentation of a stone at the right-hand lower corner
are the words " Manufactured by Alexander Cameron
& Co., Richmond, Va."
presentation is headed "Sic Semper Tyrannis." Out-
side said circular border, and at each corner, are the
words "Virginia," "Signet," "Arms and" "Seal."
Between these last two words is printed "Alexr.
Cameron & Co., Richmond, Va."
No. 3 also consists of a coloured lithograph headed
"The Lion Brand," and representing a lion with his
right paw resting on the upper edge of a shield, and
in the foreground a scarlet cushion bearing a crown.
In the upper part of the picture are the words
"Manufactured from the choicest James River Leaf
by," and in the lower part the words "Wm. Cameron
& Co.," or either of our firm's names as set forth in
the outset of this application.
No. 4 also consists of a coloured lithograph typical
of the constellations of Orion and the Great Bear, in
which a warrior is represented standing upon a cloud
amidst the stars, holding in one hand a club, and in
the other the head of a bear severed from its body;
whilst in the upper part of a circular border is the
word "Orion," in the lower part of it the words "I
shine over both hemispheres," and within the border
the words "Manufactured in Australia by Wm.
Cameron & Bro., Petersburg, Virginia."
No. 5 is also a coloured lithograph representing a
woman nude to the waist, riding on a shell chariot,
just entering the water, and drawn by four horses with
dolphin hind-quarters, driven by a cupid blowing in
a shell horn. The sun is near the horizon, and the
words "Queen of the Seas" are printed in the upper
part of the lithograph, and the words "Alexr. Came-
ron & Co., Richmond, Va." near the left-hand corner.
No. 6 also consists of a coloured lithograph headed
"St. Andrews," in which the saint of that name is
represented in the centre of three arches, embracing
a cross with his right hand, and his left held forth as
in making an oration. Above his head is a coat of
arms. The background is landscape. At the foot of
one arch are the words "Manufactured by," "Rich-
mond," and at the foot of another the words "Alex.
Cameron & Co., Virginia."
No. 7 is also a coloured lithograph representing
Neptune standing in a shell sledge, with a crown on
his head and a trident in his right hand, his left hand
holding the reins of three horses (with dolphin hinder
quarters), which are dragging his sledge over the
waters; a water-nymph gliding through the water,
holding the sledge with her left hand, and with her
right pointing out to sea. On the opposite side of
the sledge is another nymph just rising out of the
water, and in the distance are three ships firing can-
non. In the upper part of the lithograph are in-
scribed the words "High Admiral of Navies-King
of Seas," and underneath the sledge the words
"Wm. Cameron & Bro., Virginia."
No. 8 also consists of a coloured lithograph headed
"Raven," and is supposed to represent the writer of
the poem of that name sitting at his study table in a
reverie, with a raven perched on the bust of Pallas,
and beside him the words "Quoth the Raven never
more." About the centre of the picture is the repre-
sentation of a vision of a beautiful woman asleep, and
attended by good and evil spirits striving for the
mastery over her. At the bottom of the lithograph
are the words "Wm. Cameron & Bro., Virginia."
No. 9 also consists of a coloured lithograph repre-
senting a flag borne on a standard, on which is de-
picted within a circular border the representation of
a young partially-armoured warrior, with sword in one
hand and spear in the other, standing with his left
foot on the breast of his slain enemy lying at his feet,
who is clothed with a full suit of armour. This re-
No. 10 consists of the representation of a raven on
a branch, carrying in its beak a ribbon, on which is
inscribed the words "Trade Mark," the whole sur-
rounded by a single circular border, between which
and an outer double circular border are the words
"The Raven Brand," "William Cameron & Bro."
This mark is usually impressed by means of dies or
stencils on boxes containing our tobacco.
No. 11 consists of the representation of the
Scottish Royal Coat of Arms, surrounded by a circu-
lar border, within which, and at the bottom, is the
word "Virginia." In the annular space between
this border and another outer circular border are the
words "St. Andrews," "Fine," at the top, and "18's
Twist" at the bottom, together with the name of our
firm in one or other of the forms set forth at the out-
set of this application. In said annular space, at
either side, is the representation of a thistle. This
mark, like No. 10, is usually impressed by means of
dies or stencils on boxes containing our tobacco.
