borough failed to appoint a day for the election to
fill such vacancy within the time prescribed by the
said forty-sixth section: And whereas, owing to
such failure by the said Returning Officer, no election
has yet been held, and there is no power to hold the
same except as is hereinafter provided, and no suffi-
cient provision is made by the said Act or by "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," or any amend-
ment thereof, for such a case: And whereas by the
twelfth section of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," it is provided, inter alia, that, in any case in
which no sufficient provision is made by that Act, the
Governor may, by Order in Council gazetted and
publicly notified from time to time, make provision
for any such case: And whereas, therefore, it is
desirable that provision should be made for the case
of the election of the Mayor of the said Borough of
Queenstown, as is hereinafter done:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in
exercise of the powers vested in him by the said
twelfth section of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," and of all other powers in anywise enabling
him in that behalf, doth, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zea-
land, hereby order that the Returning Officer for the
Borough of Queenstown may, by public notice, appoint
a day, not less than twenty nor more than twenty-five
clear days from the public notification of this Order
in Council, for the holding of an election for the
office of Mayor of the said borough, notwithstanding
that the period provided by the forty-sixth section of
the said "Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,"
has expired, but so that such election shall be con-
ducted in all respects as if the same had been held
within the said period.

thirty-first day of May, 1881.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that
certain things required to be done by "The
Counties Act, 1876," in connection with the making
and revision of the county roll of the County of
Taranaki cannot be done by or within the times
required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the power
and authority vested in him by the two hundred and
eleventh section of the said Act, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby extend the time for the
doing of the said things in connection with the county
roll of the said County of Taranaki, and doth declare
that the time for the doing of such several things
shall be those which are specified in the Schedule
hereto:
SCHEDULE.
- For the preparation of the county roll: On or
before the 21st May, 1881. - Roll shall be open for inspection: From the
26th May, 1881, until the 20th June, 1881. - Objections to roll received: Until the 30th
June, 1881. - Day appointed for revision of roll: Some day
on or after the 1st July, 1881, but Revision Court
shall not sit after the 21st July, 1881. - Roll shall come into force: On the 1st August,

Appointing Trustees under Maori Real Estate Management Acts, 1867 and 1877.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of May, 1881.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Maori Real Estate Management Act, 1867" (hereinafter called "the said Act"),
it is enacted that, if any title to or interest in any hereditaments shall accrue to any Maoris, who or
any of whom shall be infants, lunatics, or under legal disability, it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council, if he think fit, to order that such hereditaments, or any part thereof or interest therein, as shall to
the Governor in Council be shown to belong to such infant, or lunatic, or other person under legal disability,
shall be vested in trustees as the Governor in Council shall think fit:
And whereas by "The Maori Real Estate Management Act Amendment Act, 1877," it is provided
that in all cases in which no trustee of such estate of any infant Maori prior to the passing of the said
last-recited Act has been appointed, the Governor may appoint such trustee only on the recommendation
of a Judge of the Native Land Court:
And whereas in pursuance of orders bearing dates as contained in the first column of the Schedule
hereto, made by the Judges named in the second column thereof, the persons named in the third column
were recommended to the Governor as trustees under the said Acts on behalf of the persons named and
under the disability described in the fourth column, in respect of the lands described or referred to in the
fifth column:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the colony, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
the said Acts, doth hereby order that the interests and shares of the persons under disability named in
the Schedule hereto in the several blocks of land referred to therein shall be and remain vested in the
several persons named in the third column thereof as trustees within the meaning and for the purposes
of the said Acts for the said persons respectively during the term or terms of their minority or other
disability; the said parcels of land having the areas and boundaries set forth in the Crown grants,
certificates of title, and memorials of ownership affecting the same, and in the record maps in the office of
the Surveyor-General.
