said portion of the said line of railway and the land
through which the same passes, and such maps and
plans were referred to in such Proclamation as afore-
said: And whereas the line of railway from Picton
to Hurunui is the same railway as that referred to in
the Proclamation hereinabove recited, and is one of
the railways specified in "The Public Works Act,
1879," and it is enacted by the Act last named that
such of the railways mentioned therein as are
unfinished may be completed under the provisions
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," "The Public
Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and "The
Public Works Act, 1879:" And whereas the land
described in the Schedule hereto is required to be
taken for a part of the said portion of the railway
from Picton to Hurunui:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred by the sixth section of
"The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," and of every power and authority in that
behalf, doth hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is taken for
the said part of the said portion of the line of railway
herein last above named.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 47 perches, more or less, situate in the
Survey District of Omaka, County of Marlborough,
Provincial District of Marlborough, being portion of
Section No. 174, commencing at a point 436 links
northerly from the south-west corner of said Section
No. 174. Bounded-Westerly by Section No. 1,
270 links; Northerly by said Section No. 174, 11
links; Easterly by said Section No. 174, 270 links;
Southerly by said Section No. 174 to commencing
point, 11 links: the same being more particularly
delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 8289,
deposited in the office of the Minister for Public
Works at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of May, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Railway
from Wellington to Foxton, by Johnsonville and
Porirua (further Portion of Crofton Section).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the railway from Wellington to
Foxton, by Johnsonville and Porirua, is one
of the railways specified in the First Schedule to "The
Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is therein

declared to be a special Act authorizing the construc-
tion of such railway ; and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a
further portion of such railway :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and in pursuance of the powers and authorities con-
ferred on me by sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hundred and
twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-five of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of
every other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
middle line of the said further portion of the said
railway shall be from a point situate in Section num-
ber two to a point in Section number eleven, Porirua
District, all within the Provincial District of Wel-
lington, Colony of New Zealand, as defined and set
forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle line
and the land through which the same passes are set
forth in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7361, and
authenticated for the purposes of this Proclamation
by the signature of the Honorable Richard Oliver,
Minister for Public Works, and which said map and
plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situate in Section No. 2
Porirua District, said point being the termination of
portion of the railway from Wellington to Foxton, by
West Coast, as described in a Proclamation dated the
3rd September, 1879, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 93, of the 4th September, 1879;
proceeding thence in a generally northerly direction
for a distance of 1 mile 70 chains or thereabouts, and
passing in, into, through, or over the following lands,
&c.: Porirua District, Sections Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
8 (Native Reserve), and terminating at a point in
Section No. 11, Porirua District aforesaid; all within
the Provincial District of Wellington, Colony of
New Zealand; and including all adjoining and inter-
vening places, lands, roads, reserves, streams, and
watercourses; in the manner delineated on the map
and plan marked P.W.D. 7361, signed by the Honor-
able Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works,
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington; the total length being 1 mile 70 chains
or thereabouts.
