District of West Wanganui, and for the Mining Dis-
trict of Westport, and for the Mining District of
Greymouth, and for the Mining District of Jackson's
Bay, and for the Mining District of Malvern, and for
the Mining District of Timaru, and for the Mining
District of Otago, and for the Mining District of
Southland, as the several districts are defined in the
Proclamation under "The Regulation of Mines Act,
1874," dated the 20th April, 1880.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS,
Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of
Victoria, has applied, on behalf of THE SINGER
MANUFACTURING COMPANY, of No. 34, Union Square,
New York, in the United States of America, Sewing
Machine Manufacturers, a Company duly incorporated
by a special Act of the Legislature of New Jersey, in
the said United States, the head office of the said
Company in Europe being at No. 39, Foster Lane,
Cheapside, in the City of London, in England, to
register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
Trade Marks numbered 1 and 2, of which the
following is a description, viz. :-
Description of Trade Marks.
No. 1 is an oval, in which is a thread in the shape
of the letter S threaded through crossed needles, and
bearing at its lower part a reel, the whole enclosing
a shuttle. Within and around the upper part of
the oval are the words and letters "The Singer
MFG. CO., N.Y.," while under the reel are the
words "Trade Mark," under which again, and oc-
cupying the lower part of the oval, are two sprigs of
bay leaves tied together at the bottom.
No. 2 is intended principally to be cast in metal
and to form part of the side-framing of a sewing-
machine table, and consists of the representation of
an oval in which is a thread in the shape of the letter
S threaded through crossed needles, and bearing at
its lower part a reel, the whole enclosing a shuttle.
Within and around the upper part of the oval are
the words and letters "The Singer MFG. CO., N.Y.,"
while under the reel, and occupying the lower part of

As to No. 1, in respect to the following goods,
viz.: Sewing machines, and accessories to and parts
of sewing machines.
