Wellington, 31st March, 1881.

WHEREAS by a Royal Commission under the hand of His Excellency the Governor in Council, dated
the 29th day of March, 1881, the undersigned Charles Heaphy, Esq., V.C., was appointed a Com-
missioner to inquire into the claims of all or any aboriginal natives to certain reserved and other lands
situate in the District of Wairarapa, and other places in the Provincial District of Wellington, and into
certain promises alleged to have been made by authorised officers of the Government in respect to such
reserves and lands:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of such Commission and directions, I do hereby give notice that I shall,
on Monday, the 2nd day of May, 1881, and the following days, at Masterton, proceed to inquire into the
claims of the said Natives in respect to the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereunder written, and into
the proper manner for such lands to be apportioned or granted, and do call upon all such aboriginal Natives
claiming ownership or beneficial interest in such lands, and on all other persons claiming interests therein,
to appear at the above-mentioned time and place with the necessary documents and plans to prove their
claims and interests.

SCHEDULE.

Description of Land. Name of Claimant.
1. Native Reserve of 200 acres at Opaki ... Claimed by Tamati Patoromio and the Hamua tribe.
2. The Horo, area unknown Claimed by Erihapeti Whakamairu.
3. Reserve of 500 acres lying between Sections No. 612 and 202 the Mangapokia River, and Section 582 Claimed by Erihapeti Whakamairu.
4. Land known as Harawira's Reserve or Te Aruhe- o-Pohatu, at Wainuioru Claimed by Anaru Harawira.
5. Land known as Nikorima's Reserve at Makara Claimed by Heremaia Tamaihotua.
6. 500 acres of land at Awhea Te Whatakorari and the vendors of Awhea.
7. Land known as Ramapakia Reserve of 100 acres at Makara Claimed by the Native vendors of Makara.
8. Reserve at Taueru ... Claimed by Huru Te Hiaro, Peete Te Aweawe, and others.
9. Land called Putunga-a-Matangi, near Ponui Claimed by the vendors of Turakirae.
10. Reserve called Hikurangi of about 500 acres, near the old Pa of Hikurangi Claimed by the vendors of Whareama.
11. A piece of land called Nga Hukurere, at Whareama; area not given Erihapeti Whakamairu.
12. A piece of land called Tongake, in the Whareama District; area not given Piripi Tuapa.
