WHEREAS by a Royal Commission under the hand of His Excellency the Governor in Council, dated
the 29th day of March, 1881, the undersigned Charles Heaphy, Esq., V.C., was appointed a Com-
missioner to inquire into the claims of all or any aboriginal natives to certain reserved and other lands
situate in the District of Wairarapa, and other places in the Provincial District of Wellington, and into
certain promises alleged to have been made by authorised officers of the Government in respect to such
reserves and lands:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of such Commission and directions, I do hereby give notice that I shall,
on Monday, the 2nd day of May, 1881, and the following days, at Masterton, proceed to inquire into the
claims of the said Natives in respect to the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereunder written, and into
the proper manner for such lands to be apportioned or granted, and do call upon all such aboriginal Natives
claiming ownership or beneficial interest in such lands, and on all other persons claiming interests therein,
to appear at the above-mentioned time and place with the necessary documents and plans to prove their
claims and interests.
