Turanga Highway District, County of Manukau,
constituted.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by an Act of the Pro-
vince of Auckland intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, hereby notify that I do
hereby create that portion of the Provincial District
of Auckland described in the Schedule hereto a new
highway district, under the said "Highways Act,
1874," by the distinctive name of the Turanga High-
way District, and I declare that the boundaries of
the said district shall be those defined in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Auckland, bounded towards the North-east by
Sections Nos. 34 and 46, Parish of Maraetai; towards
the South-east by lines forming the south-eastern
boundaries of Sections Nos. 71, 61, 64, 61, and 63 of
the said parish, and by the Papakura Highway Dis-
trict, hereinbefore described, to Section No. 91, Parish
of Manurewa; thence towards the West by Sections
Nos. 91, 137, 175, 176, 179, and 118, Parish of Paku-
ranga; towards the South by said Section No. 118,
Sections Nos. 275, 273, 271, 270, and 217 of said
parish, and by a road; again towards the West by
Section No. 110, a road, Sections Nos. 104, 18, 98,
116, 80, and 29 of said parish, to the Maungamau-
ngaroa Creek; and thence towards the North by the
sea to Section No. 34, Parish of Maraetai aforesaid.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

"Highways Act, 1874," brought into Operation in the
Turanga District.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by an Act of the
Province of Auckland intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that I
do hereby bring the said "Highways Act, 1874,"
into operation in the Turanga Highway District;
and I further notify that I do hereby appoint the
seventh day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one, at ten o'clock a.m., at the Schoolhouse,
Turanga, to be the day, hour, and place for the first
meeting of ratepayers for the said district, and
appoint

to be the Chairman of such meeting.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of April,

Judge of Assessment Court under "The Rating Act,
1876," appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and au-
thorities vested in me by "The Rating Act, 1876,"
I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

HENRY ALDBOROUGH STRATFORD, Esq., R.M.,

to be Judge of the Assessment Court for the Borough
of Kumara. Such appointment to date from the fifth
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this nineteenth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

REGULATIONS of the New Zealand University.

Regulation amending Regulationβ€”Examinations for
Senior Scholarships.

  1. Clause I. of the regulation respecting the exami-
    nations for senior scholarships is hereby repealed,
    and the following clause enacted in lieu thereof:--
    "The senior scholarships allotted by the Senate in
    any year shall be awarded on the recommendation of
    the examiners to students who shall pass either the
    first or the second section of the B.A. examination,
    and who shall obtain great credit in at least one
    subject of that examination; and who shall also
    exhibit a degree of proficiency in the same subject
    satisfactory to the examiner in an additional examina-
    tion to be given for the purpose of awarding senior
    scholarships."

  2. The list of senior scholarships so to be awarded
    shall be final, provided that it be found to be in con-
    formity with the resolutions of the Senate, and the
    instructions founded thereon.

Regulation amending Regulation The Entrance
Examination for Matriculation and Junior Scholar-
ships.

  1. Clause II. of the regulation respecting the
    entrance examination for matriculation and junior
    scholarships is hereby repealed, and the following
    clause enacted in lieu thereof: "Each candidate will
    be required to pass in at least six subjects, of which
    Latin, English, and arithmetic must be three. The
    Senate, on consideration of the reports of the
    examiners, shall declare whether the several candi-
    dates respectively have passed."

  2. Clause III. of the said regulation is hereby re-
    pealed, and the following clause enacted in lieu
    thereof:--" The junior scholarships shall be awarded
    at the entrance examination for excellence in any
    number not exceeding five of the following subjects:--

  3. Latin; 2. English; 3. Greek; 4. French; 5. Ger-
    man or Italian; 6. Mathematics; 7. History and
    geography; 8. Natural and physical science."

  4. Clause IV. of the said regulation is hereby re-
    pealed.

  5. Clause V. of the said regulation is hereby re-
    pealed, and the following clause enacted in lieu
    thereof: "The successful candidates may be ad-
    mitted to matriculation by the Senate on considera-
    tion of the reports of the examiners."

  6. Clause VI. of the said regulation is hereby re-
    pealed.

  7. Clause VIII. of the said regulation is hereby
    repealed.
