Authorizing the taking and laying down of Roads
over Native Land in the Auckland Provincial
District.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers and au-
thorities enabling me in this behalf by "The
Native Lands Act, 1873," "The Native Land Act
Amendment Act, 1878 (No. 2)," and "The Public
Works Act, 1880," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
authorize
STEPHENSON PERCY SMITH, Esq.,
Chief Surveyor, of Auckland, to take and lay down
roads over the lands specified in the Schedule hereto,
and for that purpose to exercise all such powers as
by the said Acts may be exercised by a person legally
authorized in that behalf under the said Acts.

Southland.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands

which, in his opinion, are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve
from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auck-
land, Hawke's Bay, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland,
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for
the purposes in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that piece or parcel of land called or known as
the Hot Springs Reserve, situated in Block IX.,
Aroha Survey District, Provincial District of Auck-
land, and containing by admeasurement 20 acres,
more or less. Bounded towards the North-west by
Section 1 of the Town of Te Aroha, and by land
hereafter to be granted to Rina Mokena and others,
1818 links; towards the North-east by land hereafter
to be granted to Rina Mokena and others aforesaid,
1100 links; towards the South-east by land hereafter
to be granted to Rina Mokena and others aforesaid,
1818 links; and towards the South-west by Whitaker
Street, 1100 links to the point of commencement:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a
recreation-ground.
All those pieces or parcels of land containing by
admeasurement 42 acres, more or less, and being
Allotments Nos. 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226,
228, 229, 230, 231, 232, 233, 234, 236, 237, 238, 239,
240, 241, 359, 360, 361, 362, 363, 364, 365, 366, 367,
368, 369, 370, 371, 372, 373, 374, 375, 376, 377, 378,
379, and 380, in the Town of Kihikihi, Parish of
Puniu, Puniu Survey District, Provincial District of
Auckland. Bounded towards the North by North
Street, 1767 links; towards the East by Atkinson
Street, 2300 links; towards the South by Grey Street,
1000 links; towards the West by Dick Street, 300
links; again towards the South by the crossing of
Dick Street aforesaid, and Allotment No. 235, 433
