IT is hereby notified for public information that
the certificate granted under "The Education
Act, 1877," to Thomas Hume, formerly a school-
master in the Education District of Nelson, has been
cancelled.

NOTICE is hereby given that a red buoy has
been placed on the extreme eastern end of
Brampton Shoal, Bay of Islands. The buoy is laid
in seven fathoms of water, and the following are the
bearings from it: Kororareka Point, S.E. E.;
Tapaka Point, N.E. N.

Altering and appointing Districts for the Collection
of Duty under "The Beer Duty Act, 1880."
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the power in me for
this purpose vested by "The Beer Duty Act,
1880," I, the Commissioner of Customs, do hereby
alter the districts appointed for the purpose of levy-
ing and collecting the duty imposed by the said Act
in so far as regards the Districts of Auckland and
Picton, and do hereby appoint the Districts of Thames
and Blenheim to be districts for the purposes of the
said Act, which districts shall comprise the boroughs
and counties specified opposite the names of each
in the second and third columns of the Schedule
hereto.
And I do hereby appoint the Collector or prin-
cipal officer of Customs at the ports or places named
in the first column of the said Schedule to be Col-
lectors of the respective districts named therein;
and I do further appoint the Customhouses at the
ports or places named in the first column of the said
Schedule to be the places in the said several districts
at which the duties leviable under the said Act shall
be paid, received, and collected.
These regulations shall take effect on and from
the 1st day of April, 1881.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this tenth
day of March, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Notice to Imprestees under "The Public Revenues
Act, 1878."

OFFICERS holding advances of Public Money are
hereby required to pay to the Public Account
at the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand
the total unexpended balances in their hands on or
before Thursday, the 31st day of March instant,
so as to close absolutely all Advance Accounts on
that date, and forthwith to transmit the Bank
Receipt for such repayments to the Treasury at
Wellington.
As respects disbursements which officers may re-
quire to make during the week following the close of
the financial year, requisitions for the amount re-
quired are to be made in such time as to enable them
to reach Wellington not later than the 24th March,
so that the funds requisite may be placed at the
disposal of the officer on the 1st April.

TENDERS FOR MANUFACTURE OF PORTLAND
CEMENT.

WRITTEN tenders will be received at this office
up to noon on the 31st March, 1881, from per-
sons who are willing to contract for the supply and
delivery of One Hundred Tons of Portland Cement.
The cement to be manufactured in the Colony of
New Zealand, and to be delivered at any of the
under-mentioned places, viz., Auckland, Wellington,
Christchurch, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Port Chalmers,
or Invercargill. Tenders to be addressed to the
Minister for Public Works, and to be marked outside
"Tender for Supply of 100 Tons of Portland Cement."
Specifications and conditions may be seen at the
Public Works Offices, Auckland, Wellington, Christ-
church, Dunedin, and Invercargill. The lowest or
any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Bonuses on Colonial Industries.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th February, 1881.
NOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses
will be paid on articles produced in the Colony
of New Zealand, as under:—
ON SUGAR.
A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be
given for the production of the first 125 tons of sugar,
manufactured in New Zealand, from beet grown in
the colony.
ON LINSEED OIL.
A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be
given for the production, by machinery permanently
