make the following alterations in the polling-
places for the Arahura Road District elections:—

The Literary Institute, Big Dam, and
The Literary Institute, Callaghan's,
to be altered to
The COURTHOUSE, GOLDSBOROUGH;
and the polling-place at the Courthouse, Kumara, to
be altered to

Notifying Changes in Sheep and Cattle Department.—

THE following changes in the Sheep and Cattle
Department are published for general informa-
tion:—

In the Nelson Sheep and Cattle District.
Inspector George James Sparrow retires from the
charge of the Golden Bay Subdivision, and from
the appointments of Sheep Inspector and Deputy
Cattle Inspector.
Inspector Benjamin Blower, Nelson and Motueka
Subdivisions, is appointed to take charge of the
Golden Bay Subdivision, vice G. J. Sparrow,
retired.

These changes date as from the 1st of March, 1881.

Crystal Palace Wool Exhibition.

THE following letter and enclosure, received from
the Agent-General, with reference to the Crystal
Palace Wool Exhibition, 1881, is published for
general information.

SIR,—Referring to your letter No. 185, of 6th Novem-
ber, directing me to apply for 1,500 feet of space at
the forthcoming International Wool Exhibition at
the Crystal Palace, I have the honor herewith to
transmit copy of letter which I have received from
the Superintendent of the Exhibition, by which you
will see that the date for receiving individual appli-
cations for space has been extended to the 1st April.

SIR,—I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 29th instant, applying on the
part of the Government of New Zealand for 1,500
square feet of space at the forthcoming International
Exhibition of Wool, &c., which shall be reserved for
the colony as requested.

I shall feel obliged if you will take the oppor-
tunity of communicating officially that the date for
receiving individual applications for space to exhibit
raw wools and manufactures has been extended to
the 1st April.

The limit of 1st January was chiefly intended to
get in applications for exhibiting machinery in motion
which required foundations and shafting, and our
machinery courts will be filled with wool-washing
machines, looms, and all the most recent and im-
proved machinery, home and foreign.

Bonuses on Colonial Industries.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th February, 1881.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses
will be paid on articles produced in the Colony
of New Zealand, as under:—

ON SUGAR.

A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be
given for the production of the first 125 tons of sugar,
manufactured in New Zealand, from beet grown in
the colony.

ON LINSEED OIL.

A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be
given for the production, by machinery permanently
established in New Zealand, of the first ten thousand
(10,000) gallons of oil, of good marketable quality,
from linseed grown in the colony.

ON OIL CAKE.

A bonus of one hundred pounds (£100) will be
given for the production of the first fifty tons of oil
cake, of good marketable quality, from linseed grown
in the colony.
