define the purpose of the said reserve to be that
specified in the second column of the said Schedule,
the same being one of the purposes named in Part
I. of the Schedule to the said Act.

New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings
at Timaru of the District Court of the Timaru and
Oamaru Distret shall be held as follows, in lieu of
those previously fixed and appointed:---
At Timaru, at the Courthouse in North Street,
for the despatch of civil business, on the sixteenth
day of every month, and for the despatch of criminal
business on the sixteenth day of March and Sep-
tember in each year.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a Sunday or a holiday,
then the Court appointed for that day shall be
holden on the first day thereafter not being a holiday.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-second day of Feb-
ruary, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

SCHEDULE.
Description of Land Reserved.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial
District of Wellington, situate in the Mana-
watu District, being the Suburban Sections
numbered 307 and 308 on the plan of the
Township of Palmerston, in the said district,
containing by admeasurement 9 acres and
2 roods, more or less. Bounded on the
North-east by Section No. 306, 950 links;
on the South-east by a public road, 1000
links; on the South-west by Section No.
309, 950 links; and towards the North-
west by Sections Nos. 295 and 296, 1000
links.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which, in his opinion, are required for any of the pur-
poses in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily
reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of
Wellington and Canterbury described in the Schedule
hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Sche-
dule specified.

SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON.
ALL those several parcels of land in the Land District
of Wellington, viz. :-
In the Mangahao Survey District: Section No. 2,
Block VII., containing 118 acres; Section No. 23,
Block VIII., containing 204 acres 2 roods; Section
No. 12, Block IV., containing 308 acres 2 roods.
In the Kairanga Survey District: Section No. 286,
Block XV., containing 120 acres 1 rood; Section
No. 1557, Block IX., containing 125 acres 1 rood
12 perches; Section No. 1608, Block IX., containing
97 acres and 14 perches; Section No. 1580, Block
IX., containing 158 acres and 8 perches.
In the Arawaru Survey District: Section No. 2754,
Block III., containing 348 acres 1 rood 28 perches.
In the Township of Featherston: Suburban Section
No. 120, containing 5 acres.
As an endowment for primary education.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Tengawai Survey Dis-
trict, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing
18 acres, more or less. Bounded-South-eastward
by Section No. 24774; North-eastward by the road
north-east of that section; and North-westward and
South-westward by the road passing through Sections
Nos. 20224 and 24774: and numbered 2489 (in red)
on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch.
For a gravel-pit.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this sixteenth day of Feb-
ruary, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

Fixing Sittings of District Court of Christchurch.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings
of the District Court of Christchurch, for civil busi-
ness, shall be held as follows, in lieu of those pre-
viously fixed and appointed:---
In the Provincial Council Chamber, Christchurch,
on the tenth day of every month.
Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as
aforesaid shall happen to be a Sunday or a holiday,
then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden
on the first day thereafter not being a Sunday or a
holiday.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-second day of Feb-
ruary, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

holden on the first day thereafter not being a Sunday
or a holiday.
